Announcements 4-25-22

Softball plays at Walnut Ridge at 5:30 tomorrow.  Please dismiss at 2:30 - Postponed from Monday.

Baseball game for today has been moved to Wednesday and players will be out all day.

**Sr Track District - Tuesday, April 26- Track members will meet in the Old Gym when school starts and will leave at 8:30.  They will be out all day.

There will be a Senior meeting in the library during 1st hour on Thursday.   Graduation practice will be on Friday, May 13 @9am in the gym.  Practice is mandatory.

**7th/8th Grade ACT Aspire Testing will be Tuesday through Thursday, April 26-28, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Please  remember to be  quiet in the hallways and respectful of those testing.  There will be no announcements during the testing time.   Students will go to 1st pd. classes and  then go to the testing rooms when the end of 1st period bell rings.  

 7th and 8th grade track uniforms and warmups need to be turned to Coach collier ASAP.

**We are collecting "Get Well" notes or notes of encouragement for Caleb Nottingham in the main office if anyone would like to write him one.  Also, a yearbook was purchased for Caleb and students may go by the office to sign it for him.

Students:  We have seen an increase of students knocking on, banging on, and tugging on the  locked end doors during class time. You should not interrupt classes. If you get locked out, you should go to the front entrance of the building.  If you damage the doors, you will be responsible for paying for the damages.

***Registration Deadline for June 11 ACT Test that is given here at PHS is Friday, May 6.

 ** The 2022 Mohawk Pageant will take place this Saturday, April 30th, in the PHS Middle Gym. Entry forms may be found in the PES office and the PHS office. Entry forms and fees may be turned until Saturday, April 30 without late fees , and may be turned in to the PES and PHS offices. 

The Middle Gym will be closed starting next Thursday after school for preparation of the Mohawk Pageant.

**Students: Splat Guns (shoots orbeez) are not allowed on campus (including parking lots). If a student is caught in possession of a Splat Gun, discipline action will be taken by PHS Administrators as well as the School Resource Officer. 

**Sophomores/Juniors:  If you are interested in taking the following concurrent classes next year, it is time to register.  See Mrs. Amber for paperwork.  You must have ACT or ACT Aspire cut scores to qualify.  They will start accepting applications on April 18  and the deadline is May 27.  These classes come on a first come first serve basis with our school and several other schools.  If you are interested, you need to see Mrs. Amber ASAP.   Comp I/II, Experiencing Art, Public  Speaking, US History I/II, World History I/II, Beginning Spanish I/II, Personal Health & Wellness (new offering)

Teachers:  Students should not be answering the phones in the classrooms

Announcement- ALL students stay in the cafeteria when they arrive at school each day beginning  Monday, March 7th. No students will be allowed in the main building until the 1st bell rings.

**The Gaylon Lawrence Memorial Scholarship application is now available on the PHS website. This is a 4-year renewable scholarship of $1000 per semester given to a student who exhibits excellence in academics, leadership, and character. It is renewable with a G.P.A. requirement of 2.5 for freshman year and 3.0 thereafter up to $8000 total. A 300 word essay is required. Deadline for application is April 29, 2022. ** Textbook Brokers in Conway, AR is sponsoring a Book Scholarship to  students attending UCA, CBC or UACCM in Fall 2022.  They have provided a link for students to fill out their information for a chance to win a Textbook Scholarship for Fall 2022. Each scholarship will cover the full cost of books for the Fall 2022 semester. There will be  2 winners chosen  at UCA and UACCM then one winner for CBC. They will announce the winners on Facebook and Instagram, May 16th 2022. Students can also visit our website www.conwaybooks.com and fill out the scholarship form under our "info" tab.
