Announcements 4-21-22

**9th/10th Grade ACT Aspire Testing will be Thursday beginning at 9:00 a.m. Please  remember to be  quiet in the hallways and respectful of those testing.  There will be no announcements during the testing time.   7th/8th Grade Testing will be next week , Tuesday through Thursday.  Students will go to 1st pd. classes and  then go to the testing rooms when the end of 1st period bell rings.  

Juniors and Seniors do not have to come to school tomorrow. We have finished decorating, so there will be no need to have juniors here for decorating in the morning. 

We are collecting "Get Well" notes or notes of encouragement for Caleb Nottingham in the main office if anyone would like to write him one.

Today is the last day to get your permission slip turned in to attend after prom. You will not be able to attend if form is not signed and returned before 3 pm today. Coach B has extra forms in her room if needed. Reminder, you must attend prom in order to attend after prom.

There will be HS track practice today at the track.
 7th and 8th grade track uniforms and warmups need to be turned to Coach collier by Tomorrow.

The Middle Gym will be closed starting next Thursday after school for preparation of the Mohawk Pageant.

**The 2022 Jr/Sr Prom will be this Friday, April 22. Seniors and Juniors will not have to come to school on this day.   All other students will be in class until regular dismissal time.  The Banquet will be from 5:00-7:00 at the Sugar Creek Country Club.  The Grand March will begin at 8:00 and the Prom Dance will begin at approximately 9:00 and end at 11:00.  After Prom activities sponsored by the Junior Class Parents will begin at 11:00 and end at 5:00 a.m.

**Students: Splat Guns (shoots orbeez) are not allowed on campus (including parking lots). If a student is caught in possession of a Splat Gun, discipline action will be taken by PHS Administrators as well as the School Resource Officer. 

**Baseball- TODAY- Jrs/Srs dismissed at 10:30  at Fresh/Soph dismissed at 11:00 after testing.

 **Softball -Thursday, April 21 vs. Rivercrest at 4:00(Home) ,dismissing at 2:45.

**Sophomores/Juniors:  If you are interested in taking the following concurrent classes next year, it is time to register.  See Mrs. Amber for paperwork.  You must have ACT or ACT Aspire cut scores to qualify.  They will start accepting applications on April 18  and the deadline is May 27.  These classes come on a first come first serve basis with our school and several other schools.  If you are interested, you need to see Mrs. Amber ASAP.   Comp I/II, Experiencing Art, Public  Speaking, US History I/II, World History I/II, Beginning Spanish I/II, Personal Health & Wellness (new offering)

Teachers:  Students should not be answering the phones in the classrooms

***Registration Deadline for June 11 ACT Test that is given here at PHS is Friday, May 6.

** The 2022 Mohawk Pageant will take place Saturday, April 30th, in the PHS Middle Gym. Entry forms may be found in the PES office and the PHS office. Entry forms and fees are due Friday, April 22nd, and may be turned in to the PES and PHS offices. 

Announcement- ALL students stay in the cafeteria when they arrive at school each day beginning  Monday, March 7th. No students will be allowed in the main building until the 1st bell rings.

Seniors:  The Matthew Brown Scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Deadline is April 29 -  turn in to Mrs. Amber

Seniors:  The      Holly Mauldin Alonzo New Beginnings Scholarship – deadline April 29.  You will email your application to the email listed on the application.  Mrs. Amber can send you the link to the application.  You may visit the following website to reference the scholarship:

Seniors:  The Kalem Rouse Memorial scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  This is for students majoring/minoring in agriculture or a related field or students planning to enroll in a vo-tech program.  Deadline April 29 - turn in to Mrs. Amber 

Seniors:  The Clay Conservation District Agricultural Scholarship is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Deadline is May 1.  Turn in applications to Mrs. Amber

Seniors:  There has been another scholarship added to the "Local Scholarships" on our website.  If you have already turned in those applications to Mrs. Amber, you need to go fill out the newly added one - Piggott High School Scholarship

**The Gaylon Lawrence Memorial Scholarship application is now available on the PHS website. This is a 4-year renewable scholarship of $1000 per semester given to a student who exhibits excellence in academics, leadership, and character. It is renewable with a G.P.A. requirement of 2.5 for freshman year and 3.0 thereafter up to $8000 total. A 300 word essay is required. Deadline for application is April 29, 2022. ** Textbook Brokers in Conway, AR is sponsoring a Book Scholarship to  students attending UCA, CBC or UACCM in Fall 2022.  They have provided a link for students to fill out their information for a chance to win a Textbook Scholarship for Fall 2022. Each scholarship will cover the full cost of books for the Fall 2022 semester. There will be  2 winners chosen  at UCA and UACCM then one winner for CBC. They will announce the winners on Facebook and Instagram, May 16th 2022. Students can also visit our website and fill out the scholarship form under our "info" tab. One entry person.

Seniors:  Clay County Cattleman's Association's scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  This is for students pursuing a degree in Animal  Science and/or agriculture.  Deadline is May 1st.
