Announcements 3-7-22

Announcement-Currently, students are supposed to be going to their 1st hour when they arrive at school each day unless they are eating breakfast. This is not happening. Students are being unsupervised and it is chaotic. Due to this not happening, we will begin having ALL students stay in the cafeteria when they arrive at school each day beginning TODAY, Monday, March 7th. No students will be allowed in the main building until the 1st bell rings.

CANCELLED -Practice in the Middle Gym after school. Softball at Maynard at 3:30.     Tuesday, March 8 Softball vs. Manila at Home beginning at 4:30. Thursday, March 10-Softball vs. Gosnell at Home at 4:30.  Friday, March11 - Softball vs. Armorel at home at 2:45.

CANCELLED- Practice at 3:30. Baseball at Hoxie at 4:00.      Thursday, March 10-Baseball vs. Corning at Corning at 4:00.  Please dismiss at 2:05.

 Juniors need to come by Coach Laura Brantley's room and pick up raffle tickets to sell. They need to pick up by Wednesday. The After Prom Junior Parents will be raffling off a YETI. 

The PHS Theatre Club will take a field trip to go to see a matinee of Willy Wonka, Jr., at the Forum on Thursday, March 10. Tickets are $5. Ms. Vernon needs your $5 ASAP.  Students who plan to attend need to sign up on the sheet outside her classroom door (Room 224 across from the library) TODAY so she can secure our tickets and pick up a permission slip. All money and permission slips must be returned by noon on Wednesday, March 9.  

**Cheerleading tryouts for JR High and SR High will be Friday, March 11 at 5:00 pm. There will be practice every day March 7-10  beginning TODAY, after school in the Middle Gym.

TEACHERS: 3rd Nine Weeks ends next Friday, March 11.  Grades must be in the computer by the end of the day on Monday, March 14. This will be a Progress Report unless it is a 7th/8th grade Art or Music class.   You will need to backdate any grades put in on that day no later than March 11.  Please make sure that you Load to gradebook for Progress Reports.  Parent-Teacher Conference will be on Thursday, March 17 from 3:30-7:00.  We will have school on Friday, March 18.  Spring Break will be March 21-25. 

Seniors:  The Clay County Farm Bureau Scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  You must be a child or grandchild of a Clay County Farm Bureau member, 2.5 GPA, and preferably seeking a degree in agriculture or the medical field - but this is not a requirement.  Deadline April 15, 2022

Seniors:  A representative from TRC will be here on  Wednesday, April 13 to answer any questions and for those who have been accepted, she will register you for Fall classes.  See Mrs. Amber if you are interested.

Color-Guard Tryouts will be next week, Friday, March 18 for grades 7-11th Grades.  Practice schedule is Tues,  March 8, Thurs, March 10, and Tues, March 15.  Practice will start at 3:20 and end at 4:40.  Please be on time and wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes.  For more information, see Mr. Coyle.

The Lady Mohawk Softball team is selling t-shirts and sweatshirts. If you would like to buy one, you can get with one of the softball girls or let Coach Carr-Haley know what you would like to order. 

  • T-Shirts are $15 (add $2 for sizes 2XL and up)
  • Sizes include: Youth XS-XL and Adult S-5XL
  • Sweatshirts are $20 (add $2 for sizes 2XL and up)
  • Sizes include: Youth S-L and Adult S to 3XL

**Seniors-  Senior cap and gown composite pictures will be taken Monday, March 14. starting at 8 a.m.  There will NOT be a make up day.  There will be a $10 sitting fee that must be paid the day of pictures. The sitting fee will include an 8 X 10 copy of the senior composite.  Boys should wear a collared button down shirt and girls should wear a dressy top or blouse.   Bring your cap and gown to school.

********************************************************************************************************Students:  According to the handbook- Pajama bottoms, Pajama tops, house shoes, and Blankets are NOT permitted.  Please do not carry blankets to school. 

***ALSO, according to the handbook p. 38, No student may be checked out for the purpose of lunch.

****New Guidelines for Covid-19. •The definition of a close contact in a school setting has changed from within 6 feet for 15 minutes to within 3 feet for 15 minutes.

  • •Test-to-stay protocols now apply to extracurricular activities instead of only applying to the school day.
  • Remember: •Vaccination eliminates the need for quarantine., •If both the case and the contact are masked, there is no need for quarantine. 

ATTENTION:    Students are not to park on the back side of the New Gym.  Please park in the main parking lot or Sr Football at Old Gym.  Reminder: Students are not to go to their vehicles during class, between classes or anytime during the day without permission.
