Announcements 1-19-22

We are doing HAT WEEK  as a fundraiser for the Polar Plunge on January 29th. If any of the students remembered,  Mrs. Swann has duty and will be giving the students a yellow dot sticker for their $1.00 donation today. They may go to her  room if they don’t make it to the cafeteria. Tomorrow will be a different color. Please help ensure that they have given their donation to wear their hat. This is not just a free ride for them to get to wear them.

Students who did not complete their AMI assignments could be counted absent for those days.

There will be an Art Club meeting this Friday, January 21st, at 11:45 in the art room for all paid members.

The boys' basketball team needs someone to film some of their away games. If you are interested then contact Coach Seegraves as soon as possible.

All students who were enrolled in Personal Communications last semester who have not turned in their textbooks to Ms. Vernon need to do so ASAP. 

The 2022 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics is Saturday, January 29. Mrs. Swann is jumping and raising money to support Area 1 Special Olympics. The week of January 18-21 will be a hat week. You must pay $1 every day in order to wear a hat. Mrs. Swann has duty during this week. You must pay your dollar to her in the cafeteria. Each day will have a different color of sticker. No correct sticker color, no hat. Teachers, please help make sure that all students have a sticker and have paid their money to wear a hat. This is one of the only fundraisers conducted by Area 1 to fund the needs of the Special Olympic athletes. If you would like to donate to Area 1 Special Olympics please see Mrs. Swann. 

????? Ms. Vernon will announce-There will be a Drama Meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 11:00 in the library.  Please dismiss drama students at 10:55.  A list of those attending will be sent after the meeting.

Jr High Baseball Practice will begin January 18.

The 20th annual AMMC Foundation Beauty Pageant will be held on Saturday, Feb 5 at the Greene County Tech High School Auditorium. Deadline to register is Feb 2 at noon. The winner of the Sr. Miss category (12th grade students only) will be awarded a $500 scholarship prize.  See Mrs. Amber for an entry form if interested.

Colorguard Tryouts will be Friday, March 18 for grades 7-11th Grades.  Practice schedule is March 1, March 3, March 8, March 10, March 15.  Practice will start at 3:20 and end at 4:40.  Please be on time and wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes.  For more information, see Mr. Coyle.

***The Junior High Boys and Girls Basketball teams will travel to Manila tonight to take on the Manila Lions in 3A-3 action.  Jr Girls will starts at 4:30 with the Jr Boys to immediately follow.

 Miss Sadie will have Mohawk and Senior tattoos for sale in her room on game days during basketball season for $1.

Students:  According to the handbook- Pajama bottoms, Pajama tops, house shoes, and Blankets are NOT permitted.  Please do not carry blankets to school.

****New Guidelines for Covid-19. •The definition of a close contact in a school setting has changed from within 6 feet for 15 minutes to within 3 feet for 15 minutes.

  • •Test-to-stay protocols now apply to extracurricular activities instead of only applying to the school day.
  • Remember: •Vaccination eliminates the need for quarantine., •If both the case and the contact are masked, there is no need for quarantine. 

ATTENTION:    Students are not to park on the back side of the New Gym.  Please park in the main parking lot or Sr Football at Old Gym.  Reminder: Students are not to go to their vehicles during class, between classes or anytime during the day without permission.

**ASU Scholarship--Incoming Arkansas Freshmen May Eligible for L2H Award

 Up to seven students from around the state of Arkansas will be awarded the License2Howl scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year. These scholarships are valued at $5,000 for the year and are renewable. The L2H application process runs from Oct 1, 2021, until Feb. 1, 2022.   -- L2H scholarships are made possible because of Arkansans who purchased the A-State license plate and are for Arkansas residents who will be full-time freshmen on the Jonesboro campus in Fall 2021. Qualified applicants must have a minimum ACT Superscore of 23 and a high school GPA of 3.25 or above. The selection committee will evaluate demonstrated leadership qualities and student involvement.
