Congrats to the 7th grade/Jr. High girls' basketball teams for defeating Gosnell.

Please excuse the following students who will participate in the2021 Piggott District Spelling Bee on Wednesday, December 11th, at the Piggott Elementary School library. They will be dismissed at 8:30am and should return to class during third or fourth period. 

  • Grade Seven: Zoe Casey, Mollie Coomer, Lyla Noble-Nelson, and Alexis Wallace.
  • Grade Eight: Francisco Avila, Jocelyn Fraser, Blake Hendley, and Taylor Peters. 

Supper with Santa will be this Saturday night, Dec. 11 at the Elementary Cafeteria from 5-7 p.m.

The Spanish Club will be selling Little Debbie's on Monday, Dec 13th. Prices will range from  50 cents to 1 dollar. 

Art Club Members:    Secret Santa will start  Wednesday.  The Art Club party will be December 14th, during 5th period.

There will be a Drama meeting on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. in the library for anyone interested in participating in a production in the Spring.

The following students have not turned in their senior profiles. Mrs. Peters's marketing classes present the first ever Food Cart Fest next Tuesday in the PHS Library! A variety of hot food items and drinks will be sold from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Advertisements will be posted around school and on the students' social media pages this week. Prices range from $1-$5. 

Archery practice will be Tuesday 12/7 and Thursday 12/9. 7th and 8th - right after school until 4:30--9th-12th - 4:30-5:30

Any ML FBLA member who needs candy canes to sell, please stop by Miss Sadie's room between classes today.

FCCLA members who are participating in Secret Santa. Gift giving starts tomorrow.  Tues. Dec. 7 the Color is White.  Bring your gift to the FCS room by 2nd hour and then check back at 7th hour to pick up your gift.  Check during your FCS Dept. class or between classes, only!

The Spanish Club is sponsoring an Ugly Sweater/Sweatshirt Contest on Tuesday, December 14th. It will cost $1 to participate and there will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. There will also be a prize for the PHS Staff member who has the ugliest sweater/sweatshirt. 

Homecoming Week days are: 

  • Monday- PJ & Anything But a Backpack Day; 
  • Tuesday- White Lie T-shirt Day;
  •  Wednesday- Jersey Day;
  • Thursday- Country vs. Country Club Day; 
  • Friday- Mohawk Spirit Day

Seniors:  If you are not interested in taking the WorkKeys certification, I need your opt-out form brought back to me before Christmas break.  If you need another copy, see Mrs. Amber.

FBLA Senior High members should bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Arkansas Children's Hospital by this Wednesday, December 8. A list of acceptable items can be picked up from Mrs. Peters or in the office. FBLA will have a holiday party for those who participate. Details on the party will be announced later. Those who would rather donate money may contribute $3 to also be eligible to attend.

Students wanting to take an ASU concurrent class for the Spring 2022 semester - see Mrs. Amber.  We have to register BEFORE Christmas Break.  You will have to have qualifying scores to register.

Students interested in taking concurrent Biology next semester with Mrs. Russom - see Mrs. Amber.  It is 4th hour and you must have a 19 on the Reading section of the ACT or a 251 on the Accuplacer in Reading.  You can take the accuplacer through BRTC.  See Mrs. Amber if you are interested.  Registration begins next week.

Beta Announcements: 

  •  Any students in 11th or 12th grade who believe they are eligible for Beta should bring a copy of their transcripts to Mrs. Flowers in Room 225 for consideration.
  •  Any former Beta members who wish to remain active need to bring their $10 dues to Mrs. Flowers in Room 225 by December 18.
  • 9th and 10th grade students who received invitations to join Beta should return their forms and/or dues to Mrs. Flowers in Room 225 by December 18.

Students:  According to the handbook- Pajama bottoms, Pajama tops, house shoes, and Blankets are NOT permitted.  Please do not carry blankets to school. 

***ALSO, according to the handbook p. 38, No student may be checked out for the purpose of lunch.

****New Guidelines for Covid-19. •The definition of a close contact in a school setting has changed from within 6 feet for 15 minutes to within 3 feet for 15 minutes.

  • •Test-to-stay protocols now apply to extracurricular activities instead of only applying to the school day.
  • Remember: •Vaccination eliminates the need for quarantine., •If both the case and the contact are masked, there is no need for quarantine. 

ATTENTION:    Students are not to park on the back side of the New Gym.  Please park in the main parking lot or Sr Football at Old Gym.  Reminder: Students are not to go to their vehicles during class, between classes or anytime during the day without permission.

**ASU Scholarship--Incoming Arkansas Freshmen May Eligible for L2H Award

 Up to seven students from around the state of Arkansas will be awarded the License2Howl scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year. These scholarships are valued at $5,000 for the year and are renewable. The L2H application process runs from Oct 1, 2021, until Feb. 1, 2022.   -- L2H scholarships are made possible because of Arkansans who purchased the A-State license plate and are for Arkansas residents who will be full-time freshmen on the Jonesboro campus in Fall 2021. Qualified applicants must have a minimum ACT Superscore of 23 and a high school GPA of 3.25 or above. The selection committee will evaluate demonstrated leadership qualities and student involvement.
