Announcements 11-16-21

 Progress Reports will go out on Wednesday.

Senior High and Middle Level FBLA will take group pictures  Tuesday, Nov. 16 beginning at 10:30 in the New Gym. All members should report immediately after 3rd period. T-shirts will be handed out at this time and members will put them on before pictures. Students will return to 4th period as soon as possible.

Basketball Homecoming Royalty picture will be taken in the New Gym at the beginning of 4th period following the FBLA picture

FCCLA Officers need to meet in the FCS room at 10:10 the last 15 minutes of 3rd Hour on Tuesday  for the officer installation picture.  Dixie Book, Mycah Blascoe, Maddy Wintizer, Autumn Covert, Chloe Sexton, Olivia Woolard, and Emily Conley.

Please excuse the following students on Friday, November 19, to compete in the Piggott Bowling Competition. Students wanting to take an ASU concurrent class for the Spring 2022 semester - see Mrs. Amber.  We have to register BEFORE Christmas Break.  You will have to have qualifying scores to register.

Students interested in taking concurrent Biology next semester with Mrs. Russom - see Mrs. Amber.  It is 4th hour and you must have a 19 on the Reading section of the ACT or a 251 on the Accuplacer in Reading.  You can take the accuplacer through BRTC.  See Mrs. Amber if you are interested.  Registration begins next week.

Seniors:  A representative from UCA will be here at 9:15 on Wednesday, December 1 for those interested.

Jostens will be here on Tuesday, November 30 to deliver class rings.

PHS Teachers are selling St. Louis Cardinal Calendars for $16.  This is a nice 15" x 22" Calendar filled with Pictures of the players and all Spring Training and Regular Season Games marked.  Profits will go to fund a scholarship given by the PHS teachers.  Please contact Faith Conley or Amber Harrell for ordering information. Orders are due by Monday, Nov. 15.

Students:  According to the handbook- Pajama bottoms, Pajama tops, house shoes, and Blankets are NOT permitted.  Please do not carry blankets to school. 

***ALSO, according to the handbook p. 38, No student may be checked out for the purpose of lunch.

****New Guidelines for Covid-19. •The definition of a close contact in a school setting has changed from within 6 feet for 15 minutes to within 3 feet for 15 minutes.

  • •Test-to-stay protocols now apply to extracurricular activities instead of only applying to the school day.
  • Remember: •Vaccination eliminates the need for quarantine., •If both the case and the contact are masked, there is no need for quarantine. 

ATTENTION:    Students are not to park on the back side of the New Gym.  Please park in the main parking lot or Sr Football at Old Gym.  Reminder: Students are not to go to their vehicles during class, between classes or anytime during the day without permission.

**ASU Scholarship--Incoming Arkansas Freshmen May Eligible for L2H Award

 Up to seven students from around the state of Arkansas will be awarded the License2Howl scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year. These scholarships are valued at $5,000 for the year and are renewable. The L2H application process runs from Oct 1, 2021, until Feb. 1, 2022.   -- L2H scholarships are made possible because of Arkansans who purchased the A-State license plate and are for Arkansas residents who will be full-time freshmen on the Jonesboro campus in Fall 2021. Qualified applicants must have a minimum ACT Superscore of 23 and a high school GPA of 3.25 or above. The selection committee will evaluate demonstrated leadership qualities and student involvement. **GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program --Since 2000, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute has awarded $10 million in scholarships to more than 500 students. Help put promising young leaders in the running for the Foundation's largest scholarship award before the Jan. 6 deadline.  High school seniors nationwide who demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship are invited to apply for the 2022 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program. This program annually provides college-bound students with $10,000 renewable scholarships - up to $40,000 total per recipient - and supports them as they lead and serve in college and beyond.
