Teachers:  Faculty Meeting on Wednesday(TODAY) after School.

Congratulations to the 7th Grade Boys Basketball Team for defeating Walnut Ridge.

Congratulations to Madison Arenaz and Shawn-Hudson Seegraves for their excellent performance in the Clay County Spelling Bee and representing the Piggott School District well.

The following FBLA competitors will be attending the District Spring Leadership Conference on Thursday, January 25. They will be gone the entire day.

**FBLA members attending competition tomorrow in Jonesboro should meet in the new gym lobby no later than 6:55 a.m. We will be back by 5:00. If you cannot attend for any reason, please let Mrs. Peters know today.

There will be dance this Friday night after the Girls and Boys Basketball games vs. Highland.  The dance will be from 9-11 p.m. in the cafeteria. Admission is $3. If you bringing a date who is not a Piggott High School students or alumni, you must sign them up in the office by Thursday.  

There will be Softball meeting next Wednesday, Jan. 24 for all girls in grades 9-12th who are interested in playing.

There will be a Junior Class meeting on Thursday, Jan. 25 in the library to discuss After Prom.

Remember the students are allowed 5 days to turn in their AMI work. An absence will be recorded if they do not do the work. AMI packet Days 2-5 work is due  TOMORROW, Thursday, Jan. 25. Friday, Jan. 26 those students who do not turn in AMI packets will be counted absent on those days.  If you have lost your packets, ask your teachers today.

Piggott State Bank is sponsoring the Half-Court Shot Contest during Senior High Girls Basketball games for a chance to win $5000.  Tickets are $1 or 6 for $5. One name will be drawn nightly for a chance to shoot.  Contest ends Feb. 6 or when shot is made.

There will be open gym for those playing High School Baseball on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursday from 6:00-7:30 in the Old Gym.

Those FCCLA members interested in attending the State Leadership meeting at the University of Central Arkansas on Wednesday March 7th must see Mrs. Little.  The registration fee is $25.00 with  $15.00 being returned the day of the trip.  See Mrs. Little ASAP for more details.

**Seniors:  The Northeast Arkansas Legal Support Professional scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Emphasis is directed toward the prospective legal profession  - but not mandatory.  Applications must be postmarked not later than January 28, 2018.

**Seniors:  If you plan on majoring in education - there is a scholarship application on the website  www.theaaea.org -- click on "Constituent Groups", then "AAFC" and then "AAFC Scholarship"

**** Each year, our "We the Students" essay competition gives high-school students from across the U.S. a chance to share their perspectives on a trending topic. This year, we’re asking students to consider what role the government should play in monitoring internet content and we are awarding $20,000+ in scholarship and prizes to the winning essayists, including:

  • 1st Place – $5,000 and a scholarship to our 2018 Constitutional Academy in Washington, D.C.
  • Runners Up – Six prizes at $1,250 each.
  • Honorable Mentions – Eight prizes at $500 each.

Seniors:  We are taking a College Day to tour BRTC-Paragould, ASU-Jonesboro and back to ASU-Paragould. The date is pending right now.  Any senior who would like to go may take a college day. If you have already used your day, you may still go but it will be an absence.  We should return by 2:30.

Seniors:  Scholarship opportunity at www.theafoundation.org/scholarships. This is for any your artist, poet, fashion designer, performer, or filmmaker. You do not have to major in an art-related field.  This is good for any 2-yr or 4-yr college in AR.

STUDENTS: You must make a downpayment to reserve your copy of the 2018 edition of The Mohawk yearbook. NO BOOKS WILL BE ORDERED WITHOUT A PARTIAL PAYMENT. You can pay in installments and put down a downpayment .

Online orders may be paid with a debit or credit card, but be aware they will have 10% sales tax collected. Books ordered at high school will not have sales tax collected on them. Please make checks payable to Piggott High School. The yearbook staff and Miss Vernon thank you in advance for your continued support of our publication.

Students attending Basketball Games must stay in the gym unless you are leaving for good or have permission.

Students:  Blankets are not permitted in class.

Students:  Only Basketball Players will get into Basketball games free.  Football and Volleyball players must pay admission. Also Band must pay unless in Pep Band and playing that night.

Students:  The new door locks are now working.  You have one minute after the tardy bell rings before the door locks re-engage.  You may have to walk around to the front doors unless you are walking in later with a teacher.  Please be diligent about getting where you are supposed to be in a timely manner.

Students:  When you arrive at school, you must come into the cafeteria.  Please do not stay in vehicles or walk off campus. Duty teachers will make room for you when you come in the doors.  Do NOT park in the VFW Building Parking Lot or by the Old Gym.

Students: Cell phones may used in the cafeteria ONLY- not in the hall way going to the cafeteria.
