Seniors:  The local scholarship application is available on our school website.  Go to Menu----> Documents----> scroll down to "Senior Info/Scholarships"----> You can click on "List of PHS scholarships" to see the scholarships available.  Click on the PHS Local Scholarship Application for a fillable form.  Turn in these applications to Mrs. Amber.  Deadline is April 16, 2021.

Seniors: The AR Association of Career and Technical Education Administrators (AACTEA) is offering $500 scholarships to students who enroll in an Arkansas college or university, including junior colleges, community colleges, and vocational/technical colleges. All applications must be postmarked on or before April 1, 2021. The form can be downloaded here.

The AR School Plant Management Association (ASPMA) is offering scholarships to students in search of a vocational, associate, or bachelor’s degree. The scholarship payment shall be made directly to the student to assist them with their educational expenses. Please click here to download the Scholarship Application. Seniors:  The Clay County Cattleman's Association is awarding a $500 scholarship to a student pursing a degree in Animal Science and/or Agriculture. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, individual character, career plans, and leadership potential.  Preference may be given to children, grandchildren, or a relative of a Clay County Cattleman's Association Member.  Please see Mrs. Amber for an application.  Deadline is May 1.

Seniors:  The Clay County Farm Bureau Scholarship application is now available in Mrs. Amber's office.  You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better and must be a child or grandchild of an active Clay County Farm Bureau member.  Preference goes toward seeking a degree in agriculture or the medical field, but it is not a requirement.  Deadline is April 15, 2021.

Seniors:  The Hannah Blankenship Memorial Scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Must have at least a 3.0 GPA, provide proof of SAE & active participation in FFA during your senior year (SAE must be "hands-on" by the candidate), must provide a 500-1000 word essay.  Deadline is April 16, 2021.  Turn in application to Mrs. Amber.

Seniors:  The Gaylon Lawrence Memorial Scholarship is a 4-year renewable scholarship of $1000 per semester given by the Piggott Community Sharing Hearts.  This scholarship is for a student who exhibits excellence in academics, leadership, and character.  The application is available from Mrs. Conley or Mrs. Amber or a fillable application can be found on the Piggott School website under Menu- Senior Info/Scholarship. A 300 word essay is required.  Deadline is April 16, 2021.

Scholarship Opportunity - Essay Contest- Winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship

We invite 11th-grade and 12th-grade students to write a college-application style essay (no longer than 650-words) that describes how you have managed to ensure those around you were a little less alone in recent months – or, alternatively, a moment where you yourself have found comfort in connection.

Entries will be judged by a panel of writers and theatre professionals. The winner will receive a $10,000 college scholarship from Dear Evan Hansen Lead Producer Stacey Mindich and a free six-week Gotham Writers class. Additional prizes may also be awarded by regional Broadway touring venues across the country.

Details:

  • Entries should be 650 words or less.
  • Students in 11th or 12th grades are eligible to enter.
  • The contest is open to residents of the United States and its territories.
  • There is no entry fee.
  • Essays should be specific and have a clear narrative.
  • Entries will be evaluated on originality, the quality of the writing, narrative, and clarity.
  • Entries will be judged by a panel of writers and Broadway theater professionals. Previous contest judges include six-time Tony nominee Chad Beguelin, Little Brown Books for Young Readers editorial director Farrin Jacobs, and Washington Post theater critic Peter Marks.
  • Deadline: 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, April 5th, 2021.

**GE/Reagan Foundation Scholarship--Honoring the legacy and character of our nation’s 40th President, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education.

Each year, the Program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Awards are for undergraduate study and may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. In addition, Scholars are invited to participate in a special awards program and receive ongoing leadership-development support. To be eligible for this award, applicants must:

demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship; demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent); be citizens of the United States of America; be current high school seniors ; and plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year. ****University of Central Arkansas -The Windgate Scholarship is based on talent and financial need and can be worth up to $2,000 per semester in the freshman year, based on amount of financial need. The scholarship is renewable and can increase up to $1,000 each year.  In the senior year, up to $5,000 per semester can potentially be awarded.  Two such scholarships will be awarded to incoming freshmen for the 2021-2022 academic year.

To be eligible for the Scholarship, students must do the following:

·         Complete on-line submission of an FAFSA form by the deadline indicated in the Application.   Instructions for accessing the form are provided in the Application;

·         Return a completed Application, along with the requested materials, via United States Mail, to my office by the deadline shown in the Application;

·         Plan to declare Art as their major emphasis of study; and,

·         Attend the University of Central Arkansas in the fall 2021 semester.

As noted on the form, the deadline for mailing the application materials is March 19th and the deadline for submission of FAFSA information is March 5th. 2021 Application for the Windgate Scholarship

**Seniors: The American Legion Scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office. You must be a child, grandchild, or great grandchild of an American Legionnaire. Applications must be received by March 12,2021.
