After announcements I will need all seniors to come to the library for a brief meeting.
It is time to register for ATU concurrent classes. If you are going in to 10th – 12th grade next year and are interested in taking Comp I/II, US History I/II, World History I/II, Public Speaking, Personal Health & Wellness, Experiencing Art, or Beginning Spanish I/II – See Mrs. Amber for an application. You must have qualifying ACT or ACT Aspire scores from 9th or 10th grade.
The PHS Crocheting and Knitting Club will meet in Room 224 (Miss Vernon's room) this afternoon at 3:30.
The Friends of Rachel Club has undergone their first project and decorated the bulletin board by the teachers’ lounge to create a share board. Please utilize this by posting anonymous notes to promote awareness and spread positivity within the school community.
There will be a spring dance in the High School cafeteria on May 19, 7-9 p.m., for students in grades 7-12. Cost will be $5 to attend and you must sign up and pay by Tuesday, April 11. Students may sign up and pay the following freshman class officers: Taylor Peters, Cason Maynard, Zander Mayberry, Caiden Mayberry, Jocelyn Fraser, or sponsor Mrs. Allman. A sign-up sheet for dates who do not attend Piggott High School will be in the office. Dates must be attending school in grades 7-12 and must be signed up by April 11.
Please excuse the following FCCLA members they will be attending/competing at the State FCCLA Leadership Conference in Hot Springs next Tues., Wed., & Thurs. April 4-6: Taylor Blackwell, Chloe Sexton, Haley Hanners, Taylor Peters, Ty Smith, Olivia Sexton, Jeanel Vaughn and Haylee Remus.
There are Jr Fair Board applications in the front office. Those need to be turned in ASAP. If you are currently on the Jr Fair Board and wish to continue, you have to complete a new application. Those can be turned in to Mrs. Amber.
Students are NOT to be banging on the doors in between classes. You need to go to the front office doors if the side doors are locked.
Lifeguard applications for the public pool will be available starting Thursday. They can be picked up at the community center or in Ms. Shawna’s room. Applications need to be returned by April 19.
Color Guard tryout practice is this week after school.

See Mrs. Amber for link to application. Deadline April 1st2023 * The ASBA Educational Foundation is currently seeking applications for the 2023 Scholarship Award Program. The Foundation has awarded college scholarships to sons/daughters/legal wards of Arkansas school board members since 1994. The awards are based on a student’s academic record and leadership potential. The ASBA Freshman Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship awarded to four high school seniors who will enter two-year or four-year institutions of higher education. Recipients must be the sons/daughters/legal wards of publicly elected Arkansas school board members who have served on his/her local board at some time during the 2022-2023 school year.
The Arkansas School Plant Management Association (ASPMA) seeks to promote the continuation of education by offering scholarships to students in search of a vocational, associate or bachelor’s degree. Any graduating high school senior is eligible to apply for a scholarship. A total of $18,000 is budgeted this year for this program for individuals based on the selection criteria. The scholarship amount given to any one student is at the discretion of the scholarship committee but this amount shall not exceed $5,000. Awarded scholarships are eligible for renewal if funds are available. The scholarship payment shall be made directly to the student to assist them with their educational expenses. See Mrs. Amber for a link and it AAmust be submitted by March 31, 2023.
The Clay County Cattleman’s Association is awarding a $500 scholarship to a student pursuing a degree in animal science/agriculture. See Mrs. Amber for an application and more info pertaining to the scholarship. Turn in application to Mrs. Amber by May 1st.
The PIGGOTT AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE scholarship is now available. This is a $1,000 scholarship and for seniors who plan to attend a college, university, or trade school. Applications are available in Mrs. Amber’s office. Deadline is Friday, March 31, 2023. Return completed applications to Mrs. Amber.

The Clay County Farm Bureau scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber’s office. You must have a 2.5 and be a child or grandchild of an active Clay County Farm Bureau member. Deadline is April 15, 2023.
The Holly Alonzo New Beginnings Scholarship application is now available. Mrs. Amber can send you a link. You will need to email completed application and essay to the email listed on the application by May 12, 2023. Someone from Piggott will receive this scholarship.
