On Thursday, March 16, the sophomores and juniors will be attending a BRTC preview day on the Paragould campus.  They will learn about the CTC programs they can enroll in as a junior or senior.  Permission slips need to be returned by Wednesday, March 15.  There are extra permission slips in the front office if you need one.

 

ML FBLA has a donation box outside Mrs. Sadie's room for new socks, underwear, diapers & wipes. Donations go to Together We Foster.

 

Juniors and seniors: please check your emails. You should have received a Google form that needs to be filled out by March 28th for prom.

 

Students are NOT to be banging on the doors in between classes.  You need to go to the front office doors if the side doors are locked.

 

On Saturday the junior class is hosting a corn hole tournament at the clay county fairgrounds. Everyone is invited to come participate and all juniors are asked to come help work the event. All proceeds will benefit this years after prom.

 

 

We are having a Friends of Rachel club meeting Friday the 10th, from 10:15-10:45. Mrs.Brantley and Mrs.Seegraves will have the following core leaders: Maddy Wintizer, Anna Haley, Dixie Book, Emma Langley, Kylea Mogourik, Izzy Miller, Charlie Latta, and Alex Reed. They will have 8th, 9th, and 12th grade members and will meet in the cafeteria.

 

Mrs. Tate and Mr. McCluskey will have the following core members: Grady Hendley, Abby Crawford, Breana Scott, Chloe Perez, Gracelynn Holmes, Giana Simmington, Nya Noble-Romero, Dylan Conway, and Lucas Morrow. They will have 7th, 10th, and 11th grade members and will meet in the library. A list will be sent out for those who attend.

 

There are Color Guard tryout forms in the front office. Sign up there or talk to Mrs. Allman and pick up an information packet. Tryout practices will begin the week after spring break. This will be for next year’s 9th-12th graders. You do not have to currently be in band in order to try out

 

Chess practice will be Thursday after school.

 

There will be cheer tryout practice every day after school this week. The middle gym will be closed during this time.

 

Senior High and Middle Level FBLA members who sold Little Caesars pizza kits should make arrangements to pick up your kits this Thursday from 3:30-5:30 in the high school cafeteria. We are NOT able to store pizza kits that are not picked up!

 

Juniors and seniors who wish to bring a date to prom who is not a junior or senior at PHS can pick up a date form and a copy of the prom rules in the office. Forms and fees must be turned in to the office no later than 3 PM on Tuesday, March 28 (NO EXCEPTIONS).

 

Mrs. Little is selling the extra Homecoming t-shirts for $10.00, see her for sizes.

SENIORS:

A representative from BRTC will be here on March 29 at 9:00 to register for Summer and/or Fall 2023 classes.

*American Legion Coudret Trust  and Garner Trust Scholarships – see Mrs. Amber for application.  Must be a child, grandchild, or great grandchild of American Legionnaires.  Applications must be received back to dept headquarters by March 10, 2023

*C. B. Garrison Scholaship – for seniors who are son/daughter of AAEA members.  See Mrs. Amber for application.  Deadline is April 7, 2023

* The College of Education and Behavioral Science at Arkansas State University is pleased to offer a performance-based scholarship to three incoming Fall 2023 freshmen who have declared one of the following majors,

* The ASBA Educational Foundation is currently seeking applications for the 2023 Scholarship Award Program. The Foundation has awarded college scholarships to sons/daughters/legal wards of Arkansas school board members since 1994. The awards are based on a student’s academic record and leadership potential. The ASBA Freshman Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship awarded to four high school seniors who will enter two-year or four-year institutions of higher education. Recipients must be the sons/daughters/legal wards of publicly elected Arkansas school board members who have served on his/her local board at some time during the 2022-2023 school year.

Clay County Electric Cooperative Corporation is seeking High School Seniors who are interested in pursuing a career as a High Voltage Lineman. Clay County Electric Cooperative offers a sponsorship for the High Voltage Lineman training at ASU Newport. This program offers an Associate of Applied Science in General Technology with emphasis in High Voltage Lineman. This is a great career opportunity with a high earning income potential.  Applications must be submitted by the close of business Friday, March 24, 2023

 

The Arkansas School Plant Management Association (ASPMA) seeks to promote the continuation of education by offering scholarships to students in search of a vocational, associate or bachelor’s degree.

Any graduating high school senior is eligible to apply for a scholarship. A total of $18,000 is budgeted this year for this program for individuals based on the selection criteria. The scholarship amount given to any one student is at the discretion of the scholarship committee but this amount shall not exceed $5,000. Awarded scholarships are eligible for renewal if funds are available. The scholarship payment shall be made directly to the student to assist them with their educational expenses.

The PIGGOTT AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE scholarship is now available.  This is a $1,000 scholarship and for seniors who plan to attend a college, university, or trade school.  Applications are available in Mrs. Amber’s office.  Deadline is Friday, March 31, 2023.  Return completed applications to Mrs. Amber. 

 

Clay County Arts Council Scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber’s office.
