Announcements 3-7-19

Today, Thursday, March 7. is the end of this nine weeks.  P.T. Conference will be next Thursday on March 14 beginning at 3:30 until 7:00.

TEACHERS:  Grades must be in the computer by the end of the day today, Thursday.

**The 4H Leadership students will meet at 10:30 on Thursday with Debbie Baker in Room 239.

**Arkansas Junior Historians will meet on Thursday, March 6 in Room #207 during activity period.

**The Sr High Track Team will have a meet at Pocahontas on Thursday, March 7, they will be dismissed at 2:00. The Baseball game will be on Corning on Thursday, and the Softball team will play at Gosnell. Please excuse baseball at 1:50 and softball at 1:30.

***Black River Technical College (BRTC) Pocahontas is having a Nursing Assistant class. This class will run from May 29-June 20th and is an evening class from 3:15-10:15 p.m. There will 4 Clinical days.  This class will train you to qualify for the Arkansas State CNA Exam. This program is open to students age 16 and up.  Orientation will be on April 29th at 4 pm and is required. SENIORS:  The Local Scholarship applications are on the website under the MENU: Senior Info/Scholarships.  Deadline for local scholarship application is Friday, April 5, 2019

Seniors pursuing a degree in animal science or agriculture - Mrs. Amber has the Clay County Cattleman's Association scholarship application in her office.  Deadline is April 1, 2019

Seniors:  The Farm Bureau scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  You must have at least a 2.5 GPA and be a child or grandchild of an active Clay County Farm Bureau member.  Preference goes toward students majoring in agriculture or the medical field but it isn't a requirement.  Deadline is April 15, 2019

 Auditions for the spring production by the Drama Club will be from 4:30 to 6:30 on Thursday, March 7th. Students must pick up an audition packet and conflict sheet and return them before they audition. 

Elementary is needing volunteers to read to children at the 3rd Grade Family Reading Night Event on Thursday, March 7th from 5:00 - 7:00. Betas and other students who would like to volunteer should meet with Mrs. Andrea Coomer at elementary tomorrow evening. Any help would be appreciated.

Sunday, March 10 in the High School Library, there will be an After Prom meeting to discuss plans for After Prom.  All parents and juniors need to attend this meeting.

FBLA Middle Level Little Caesars pizza orders are due next Tuesday, March 12. Please turn in your forms with all money to Mrs. Veal.

We will be celebrating Doughnut Day on Thursday, March 14th! Each student, pk-12, and employee will receive a doughnut thanks to our generous banks. If anyone, including kids, want to order extra they are $9.50 a dozen for glazed and $10.50 for chocolate. Please let Mrs. Penny Toombs know by Friday, March 8th. Payment is due when ordering. 

This Friday, March 8 is the deadline without late fees for the ACT April 13 test.  This test will not be given at PHS.

--We now have our Grab'n'Go cart set up in the high school cafeteria. Any student that didn't get breakfast will have a chance to eat again during the Activity period. It will be quick foods not hot foods. You must stay in the cafeteria with the food.

SENIORS: Jostens has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice.

The program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation's largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. MEETINGS THIS WEEK:

Cheer tryouts for the 2019-2020 school year will be March 15. Tryout clinic will be next week March 11-March 14. Sign up sheets and information packets are in the office.

March 12th.  They will be attending the State FCCLA Leadership meeting in Conway. Jamar Ball, Gracie Blascoe, Mycah Blasscoe, Matthew Bowers, Micah Ermert, Skylar Johnson, Jordon Leggett, Nick Maldonado, Abby McCluskey, Paylee Mayhre, Emma Riddle, Ashlyn Roberts, and Olivia Woolard.

Juniors and Seniors: There are sign up sheets in the office to sign up for after prom and for them to include there dates that they will be taking with them.

Seniors:  Farm Credit scholarship is available online at farmcreditmidsouth.com/community/scholarships - deadline is March 8, 2019.  Applicants must be sponsored by a Farm Credit Midsouth customer.

Seniors:  The Reverend Charlie E. and Cinderella S. Taylor Sr. Foundation scholarship application is available at http://www.cctaylorfoundation.org/application.html Deadline is March 31, 2019

Seniors:  American Legion scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Must be child, grandchild, or great grandchild of American Legionnaire.  Application must be received at their department on or before March 12, 2019.

Seniors:  MFA scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Deadline is March 15, 2019.  Consideration goes to applicants furthering their education related to agriculture or other fields of study that benefit rural life.

SENIORS:  The Arkansas School Plant Management Association scholarship application is for any graduating senior planning to attend a college/university, vocational-technical or trade school who has at least a 3.0 GPA and at least a 19 on the ACT.  You must complete the application, essay, and 2 recommendation letters. See Mrs. Amber, Mrs. Conley, or Ms. Rachel for more information. Deadline is April 1.

Seniors:  The Hannah Blankenship Memorial Scholarship is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  This scholarship will be awarded to a young woman pursuing an agricultural field of study.  Applications must be submitted by April 1.

Applications for the Arkansas Rural Education Scholarship for School employee's child is available.  Due date is  April 5, 2019.  See Mrs. Amber or Mrs. Conley for application.

Seniors:  The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  You must have a "B" average to apply.  The deadline to receive applications is April 1, 2019
