Announcements 2-7-19

Tuesday and Wednesday, February 5 and 6 are AMI days.  Students should complete AMI Day 2 and 3 packets.  Failure to do so results in being counted absent for those days and counts toward semester test exemptions. AMI packets are graded and can result in a 0 if not completed and returned.

Teachers: Grades need to be in the computer by the end of the day on Thursday February 7th.  Progress Reports go home on Monday February 11th.

PACE is selling Valentine's Day gifts for $5.  Money is due by Monday, Feb. 11. Orders forms are posted in the hallways.

  • MEETINGS THIS WEEK:  

    12th Grade Beta Members need to meet with Mrs. Flowers on next Tuesday, February 19.

     Rescheduled-   Wednesday, There will be a Junior Class meeting in the cafeteria during act. pd.

       ML FBLA members  will be attending the Spring Competition Conference on Wednesday, February 6.

Seniors who plan to go on the Senior Trip on May 10th need to sign up with Mr. Johnson By Friday, February 8th so reservations can be made.

BASKETBALL this week:

    PHS will host the Junior High District tournament.  Semifinal games resume on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 4:00  and Championship games will be played on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 6:00. 

FBLA week:  Monday - Hat Day, pay $1 to wear hat, RESCHEDULED 19th Tuesday - Scavenger hunt during act. pd.  Wednesday - ML FBLA conference, , Thursday - Minute to win it competitions for members during activity period in the library,  Friday - Ice Cream Social for all members during activity period in the cafeteria.

Juniors and Seniors: There are sign up sheets in the office to sign up for after prom and for them to include there dates that they will be taking with them.

RESCHEDULED --Please let these Seniors know when they will be taking the Civics test.  They will need to report to the library at their scheduled time. Tuesday, February 5

The junior class is selling Boston Butts for an After Prom fundraiser. They will be 25.00 dollars. If you would like to order, please let Sherry Taylor know. They will be ready for pick up on Saturday, March 9th at the PHS Gym. See Mrs. Jean in Room #218 for tickets.

Spend a Day with a Judge Essay Contest, and the Courtroom Artist Competition: In observance of Law Day, the Legal Related Education Super Committee of the Arkansas Bar Association is conducting a state-wide contest for Arkansas high school students, with winners receiving the select honor to “Spend a Day with a Judge.”  

Selected students will get the honor of spending the day with a judge, obtaining insight about what it is like to be a judge, and understanding law from the judge’s perspective. Current Judges who have volunteered to host a student include Arkansas Supreme Court Judges, Court of Appeals Judges, Federal Judges, and Circuit Judges.

What is the Courtroom Artist Competition?  This entry will be a live courtroom drawing, which must be conducted at one of our Regional Mock Trial competitions on March 2, 2019, and turned in for judging.  Regional Mock Trial competitions are located in Jonesboro, AR.

Second annual Miss Mohawk pageant will be held February 23 in the Middle Gym sponsored by the Mohawk Band.

Spring Blood Drive - Wednesday, February 13 - see Mrs. Amber to sign up.  Must be at least 16 to sign up.  (16 year olds must have permission slip - you can get from Mrs. Amber)

Seniors who have applied to Williams Baptist University and juniors interested in WBU - a representative will be here Monday, Feb 11 during activity period.

Seniors: SEMO @ Kennett will be having fall registration dates on Feb 21 and March 5. If you have any questions you can call 573-888-0513.

Applications for the Arkansas Rural Education Scholarship for School employee's child is available.  Due date is  April 5, 2019.  See Mrs. Amber or Mrs. Conley for application.

Seniors:  Farm Credit scholarship is available online at farmcreditmidsouth.com/community/scholarships - deadline is March 8, 2019.  Applicants must be sponsored by a Farm Credit Midsouth customer.

Seniors:  American Legion scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Must be child, grandchild, or great grandchild of American Legionnaire.  Application must be received at their department on or before March 12, 2019.

Seniors:  MFA scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Deadline is March 15, 2019.  Consideration goes to applicants furthering their education related to agriculture or other fields of study that benefit rural life.

SENIORS:  The Arkansas School Plant Management Association scholarship application is for any graduating senior planning to attend a college/university, vocational-technical or trade school who has at least a 3.0 GPA and at least a 19 on the ACT.  You must complete the application, essay, and 2 recommendation letters. See Mrs. Amber, Mrs. Conley, or Ms. Rachel for more information. Deadline is April 1.

Seniors:  The Hannah Blankenship Memorial Scholarship is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  This scholarship will be awarded to a young woman pursuing an agricultural field of study.  Applications must be submitted by April 1.
