Seniors -- If you haven't taken your Civics Exam yet - be studying.  The schedule is below.

ML FBLA members who are attending the Spring Competition Conference on February 6, don't forget to turn in your permission slips by TODAY,Tuesday. 

Teachers: Grades need to be in the computer by the end of the day on Tuesday, February 5th.  Progress Reports go home on Thursday February 7th.

Please excuse Louis Lin on Friday for Band All State Tryouts.

FFA Week 2019 - January 28th- February 1st

  • Tuesday- T-Shirt/Hat Day- *FFA members that wear FFA T-shirts or Hats will have a chance for the $20 giveaway.
  •  Wednesday- Faculty/Staff Pancake Appreciation Breakfast -  *Breakfast for the Faculty/Staff will be served at 7:40 in the AG Shop. Everyone is invited!!
  • Thursday- Read to Preschool Day- *Members invited to read small books to preschool children during Activity Period.
  • Friday- FFA Members Luncheon-    *FFA Members are to report to the AG Shop during their lunch period for BBQ, chips and drinks.

Tuesday night, Boys Basketball will travel to Corning.  

PACE is selling Valentine's Day gifts for $5.  Money is due by Monday, Feb. 11. Orders forms are posted in the hallways.

The Chess team is selling tickets for a Yeti cooler to be given away at the ballgame on February 4th (you do not need to be present to win). Tickets are 1 for $5 or 3 for $10. Please see Mrs. Penny Toombs if interested.

  • MEETINGS THIS WEEK:  

    Tuesday -There will be a meeting in the old gym for all boys and girls grades 7-12 who would like to participate in track this year.

    Tuesday - There will be a Senior Class meeting in the cafeteria during activity period.

    Wednesday -  There will be a Drama Club meeting in the ??.

    Wednesday - Retake the Tennis Picture during activity period in New Gym.

    Thursday - There will be a FCCLA meeting in Mrs. Little's room.

    Friday - There will be a FCM meeting in Mrs. Conley's classroom #214.

Next week will be FBLA week:  Monday - Hat Day, pay $1 to wear hat, Tuesday - Minute to win it competitions for members during activity period in the library, Wednesday - ML FBLA conference, Sr FBLA t-shirt day and picture in the library, Thursday - Scavenger hunt during act. pd. Friday - Ice Cream Social for all members during activity period.

Juniors:  If you would like to sign up for a Prom committee, please sign the sheet on the library windows.  There is still no one signed up for the Food and Entertainment committees.

Seniors:  A representative from BRTC will be here on Jan 30 during activity period in the library.

Juniors and Seniors: There are sign up sheets in the office to sign up for after prom and for them to include there dates that they will be taking with them.

Please let these students know when they will be taking the Civics test.  They will need to report to the library at their scheduled time.

The junior class is selling Boston Butts for an After Prom fundraiser. They will be 25.00 dollars. If you would like to order, please let Sherry Taylor know. They will be ready for pick up on Saturday, March 9th at the PHS Gym. 

Spend a Day with a Judge Essay Contest, and the Courtroom Artist Competition: 

In observance of Law Day, the Legal Related Education Super Committee of the Arkansas Bar Association is conducting a state-wide contest for Arkansas high school students, with winners receiving the select honor to “Spend a Day with a Judge.”  

Selected students will get the honor of spending the day with a judge, obtaining insight about what it is like to be a judge, and understanding law from the judge’s perspective. Current Judges who have volunteered to host a student include Arkansas Supreme Court Judges, Court of Appeals Judges, Federal Judges, and Circuit Judges.

What is the Courtroom Artist Competition?  This entry will be a live courtroom drawing, which must be conducted at one of our Regional Mock Trial competitions on March 2, 2019, and turned in for judging.  Regional Mock Trial competitions are located in Jonesboro, AR.

Seniors:  The Hannah Blankenship Memorial Scholarship is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  This scholarship will be awarded to a young woman pursuing an agricultural field of study.  Applications must be submitted by April 1.

SENIORS:  The Arkansas School Plant Management Association scholarship application is for any graduating senior planning to attend a college/university, vocational-technical or trade school who has at least a 3.0 GPA and at least a 19 on the ACT.  You must complete the application, essay, and 2 recommendation letters. See Mrs. Amber, Mrs. Conley, or Ms. Rachel for more information. Deadline is April 1.

Seniors who have applied to Williams Baptist University and juniors interested in WBU - a representative will be here Feb 11 during activity period.

Second annual Miss Mohawk pageant will be held February 23 in the Middle Gym sponsored by the Mohawk Band.

Spring Blood Drive - Wednesday, February 13 - see Mrs. Amber to sign up.  Must be at least 16 to sign up.  (16 year olds must have permission slip - you can get from Mrs. Amber)

Seniors:  MFA scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Deadline is March 15, 2019.  Consideration goes to applicants furthering their education related to agriculture or other fields of study that benefit rural life.

Seniors:  Farm Credit scholarship is available online at farmcreditmidsouth.com/community/scholarships - deadline is March 8, 2019.  Applicants must be sponsored by a Farm Credit Midsouth customer.

LOST AND FOUND:  There have been several items from the Middle Gym turned into the office.  Please see Mrs. Shamala or Mrs. Conley if you are missing a jacket, etc.

Applications for the Arkansas Rural Education Scholarship for School employee's child is available.  Due date is  April 5, 2019.  See Mrs. Amber or Mrs. Conley for application.

Seniors:  American Legion scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Must be child, grandchild, or great grandchild of American Legionnaire.  Application must be received at their department on or before March 12, 2019.

SENIORS: Seven License2HOWL Scholarships are available for the 2018-19 academic year for incoming freshmen at Arkansas State University. These scholarships are valued at $5,000 for the year and are renewable for recipients who continue to meet criteria and re-apply.Beginning this year, we will be utilizing the application process for incoming freshmen through the University’s privately funded scholarship process. The application link will be available from December 2, 2018 - February 1, 2019. 

L2H scholarships are for Arkansas residents who will be full-time freshmen on the Jonesboro campus, have a minimum ACT score of 23 and a high school GPA of 3.25 or above. Also, please note the acceptable GPA has changed from 3.5 to 3.25 in an effort to accommodate more students, giving them the opportunity to receive one of these awards. The selection committee will evaluate demonstrated leadership qualities and student involvement.

SENIORS:  https://nspma.org/wp-content/u...The National School Plant Management Association (NSPMA) seeks to assist qualified students who are continuing their education by offering scholarships to those pursuing an Associates or Bachelor degree.  Any graduating high school senior, college freshman, sophomore, or junior is eligible to apply for a scholarship. The total number of scholarship awards is based on the NSPMA Scholarship Trust Funds, and awards are based on the selection criteria (financial need, academic achievement, co-curricular participation, community service, and essay response). Individual scholarships may range from $500 up to $1,500 depending on the candidate’s interest, evaluation results, and recommendation from the NSPMA Scholarship Committee. The application receipt deadline is February 1, 2019.  For additional information, please contact Mike Mertens.
