**SENIORS:  Please turn in your nominations for Class of 2019  Colors, Song, Flower, and Motto to Mr. Johnson by today (Wednesday).  Voting will take place during the CAPS meeting on Thursday.

Driver's Test will be next Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the community center.  We will not be in school on Monday for Martin Luther King Day.  You must see Mrs. Shamala this week if you plan to get your paperwork.

The Hemingway Pfeiffer Museum Art Show is on display at the City Market until January 26th.  An award ceremony is scheduled on the 26th from 11-12 noon, with awards presented at 11:45 a.m.  Everyone is invited to vote on their favorite art piece for the People's Choice Award.

There will be meeting for the Junior Parents (Class of 2020) on Sunday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the High School Library to discuss the After Prom party/activities. The door by the Art Room will be open for parents to enter at that time.

Attn: Spanish club members pictures will be Wed. Jan. 16th at 9:23 in the new gym. 

Junior Historians will have group photo taken next Wednesday during Activity Period.

Boys and Girls tennis team pictures will take their team photos on Wed. in the new gym during activity period.

This Thursday, students will meet with their CAPS advisors during activity period.

Friday morning, there will a Class Competition in the gym. There will be 6 different competitions and the winning grade will receive a pizza party from Piggott State Bank.   Times TBD.

Next Wednesday, Jan. 23, there will be a meeting in the old gym for all boys and girls grades 7-12 who would like to participate in track this year.

Spring Blood Drive - Wednesday, February 13 - see Mrs. Amber to sign up.  Must be at least 16 to sign up.  (16 year olds must have permission slip - you can get from Mrs. Amber)

Seniors:  MFA scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Deadline is March 15, 2019.  Consideration goes to applicants furthering their education related to agriculture or other fields of study that benefit rural life.

Seniors:  A representative from BRTC will be here on Jan 30 during activity period in the library.

The Clay County Spelling Bee will begin at 1pm on Tuesday, January 22, in the Rector High School library. Londyn Morton and Shawn-Hudson Seegraves will represent PHS in the bee. Please dismiss them at 11:25am.

LOST AND FOUND:  There have been several items from the Middle Gym turned into the office.  Please see Mrs. Shamala or Mrs. Conley if you are missing a jacket, etc.


Seniors must turn in their Senior Profile paper and Senior Quotes by January 25 to Sherry Taylor.  If you need forms  in the front office.

Applications for the Arkansas Rural Education Scholarship for School employee's child is available.  Due date is  April 5, 2019.  See Mrs. Amber or Mrs. Conley for application.

Seniors:  American Legion scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Must be child, grandchild, or great grandchild of American Legionnaire.  Application must be received at their department on or before March 12, 2019.

SENIORS: Seven License2HOWL Scholarships are available for the 2018-19 academic year for incoming freshmen at Arkansas State University. These scholarships are valued at $5,000 for the year and are renewable for recipients who continue to meet criteria and re-apply.Beginning this year, we will be utilizing the application process for incoming freshmen through the University’s privately funded scholarship process. The application link will be available from December 2, 2018 - February 1, 2019. 

L2H scholarships are for Arkansas residents who will be full-time freshmen on the Jonesboro campus, have a minimum ACT score of 23 and a high school GPA of 3.25 or above. Also, please note the acceptable GPA has changed from 3.5 to 3.25 in an effort to accommodate more students, giving them the opportunity to receive one of these awards. The selection committee will evaluate demonstrated leadership qualities and student involvement.

SENIORS: National School Plant Management Association (NSPMA) seeks to assist qualified students who are continuing their education by offering scholarships to those pursuing an Associates or Bachelor degree.  Any graduating high school senior, college freshman, sophomore, or junior is eligible to apply for a scholarship. The total number of scholarship awards is based on the NSPMA Scholarship Trust Funds, and awards are based on the selection criteria (financial need, academic achievement, co-curricular participation, community service, and essay response). Individual scholarships may range from $500 up to $1,500 depending on the candidate’s interest, evaluation results, and recommendation from the NSPMA Scholarship Committee. The application receipt deadline is February 1, 2019.  For additional information, please contact Mike Mertens.    2019 NSPMA Scholarship
