Congratulations to the 7th Grad Girls Basketball team for defeating Manila last night.

Congratulations to Taylor Williamson, Katlyn Parrish, and Kenny Linam for completing the Certified Emergency Response Team training.

Announcement from the Principal:  Students are not to be in the gyms unless they are supervised by a school employee.  This is after school, lunch time, activity period, etc.

Mrs. Cheng needs money and forms by Friday in order to go on the trip next Thursday. 

Please excuse the Boys Basketball Team today at 2:50 to travel to Manila.

The 7th/Jr/Sr High Girls Basketball Team will be playing at Gosnell on Thursday.  Please dismiss at 2:50.  Boys Basketball will play Gosnell at Home on Friday.

Please excuse the following students to attend the Drama Club's Les Miserables field trip on Tuesday, Nov. 27. We will be leaving at 2:30 p.m. from the new gym parking lot:  Trista Crow, Joseph Gates, Cody Holifield, Jordon Leggett,  Louis Lin, Audrey Little, Avery Little, Destiny Maine, Aaron Mauldin, Destiny Potter, Rachelle Underwood, Jacynda Vierling

Seniors:  ASU scholarship deadline is December 1st.  You must be fully admitted by December 1st in order to be eligible for institutional scholarships.

Mrs. Sherry needs to set up times to take Club/Organization Pictures for the yearbook.  Please email her.

FBLA Middle Level members who want to compete need to see Mrs. Peters no later than noon TODAY.

TEACHERS: Reminder: High School faculty meeting after school Wed. Nov. 28. 

Senior High VB Pictures will be taken during activity period TODAY, Tuesday in the New Gym. 

There will be a BASEBALL meeting on Wednesday during activity period.

There will be a DRAMA Club meeting on Friday during activity period.

If you would like to take a concurrent class from ASU please see Mrs. Amber by Friday, November 30.  Theses classes include Intro to Psychology, Intro to Sociology, World Lit.  You must have qualifying ACT scores.

Congratulations to Emberleigh Clennie and Kade Johnson for raising the most money for animal shelters.  

Art Club members remember butter braid order forms and money are due on Thursday.

There will be a Junior Historian meeting in Room 207 on Wednesday, the 28th during activity period.  If you are going on the field trip Friday you will have to attend the meeting.

Seventh graders wishing to try out for the district spelling bee will meet in Mrs. Woolery's classroom at the beginning of third period on Wednesday, November 28, to compete in the seventh grade spelldown.

Eighth graders wishing to try out for the district spelling bee will meet in Mrs. Woolery's classroom at the beginning of third period on Thursday, November 29, to compete in the eighth grade spelldown.

The Piggott district spelling bee will begin at 9am on Wednesday, December 12, in the PES library. 

Jostens will be here on Thursday, Dec. 13 to deliver class rings.  You must have your balanced paid before you can pick up your ring.

FCCLA members who would like to attend the District FCCLA meeting in Jonesboro on Thursday, Dec. 6 must bring $5.00 to Mrs. Little by Thursday, November 29. 

Also, we will take a group picture Thursday November 29.  All FCCLA members will need to meet in the new gym at activity period for the picture and a short meeting.

FCCLA is is working to help LeBonheur Children's Hospital with their toy drive.  Any student or teacher who would like to make a toy donation may bring it to the FCS room by Friday, November 30. The toys must be new not used. See Mrs. Little for a list of toys the hospital is suggesting or you can go to the LeBonheur website.  

LOST AND FOUND:  There have been several items from the Middle Gym turned into the office.  Please see Mrs. Shamala or Mrs. Conley if you are missing a jacket, etc.

Seniors:  A representative from ATU will be here on Wednesday, Dec 5 during activity period in the library.

Seniors:  American Legion scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Must be child, grandchild, or great grandchild of American Legionnaire.  Application must be received at their department on or before March 12, 2019.

SENIORS: Seven License2HOWL Scholarships are available for the 2018-19 academic year for incoming freshmen at Arkansas State University. These scholarships are valued at $5,000 for the year and are renewable for recipients who continue to meet criteria and re-apply.Beginning this year, we will be utilizing the application process for incoming freshmen through the University’s privately funded scholarship process. The application link will be available from December 2, 2018 - February 1, 2019. 

L2H scholarships are for Arkansas residents who will be full-time freshmen on the Jonesboro campus, have a minimum ACT score of 23 and a high school GPA of 3.25 or above. Also, please note the acceptable GPA has changed from 3.5 to 3.25 in an effort to accommodate more students, giving them the opportunity to receive one of these awards. The selection committee will evaluate demonstrated leadership qualities and student involvement.

Seniors:  If you plan on majoring in education and enroll in an Arkansas college you can apply for the AAFC Scholarship. Go to www.theaaea.org.  Click "Constituent Groups", “AAFC”, then “AAFC Scholarship.”  The completed application must be received on or before January 10, 2019.

SENIORS:  https://nspma.org/wp-content/u...The National School Plant Management Association (NSPMA) seeks to assist qualified students who are continuing their education by offering scholarships to those pursuing an Associates or Bachelor degree.  Any graduating high school senior, college freshman, sophomore, or junior is eligible to apply for a scholarship. The total number of scholarship awards is based on the NSPMA Scholarship Trust Funds, and awards are based on the selection criteria (financial need, academic achievement, co-curricular participation, community service, and essay response). Individual scholarships may range from $500 up to $1,500 depending on the candidate’s interest, evaluation results, and recommendation from the NSPMA Scholarship Committee. The application receipt deadline is February 1, 2019.  For additional information, please contact Mike Mertens.    2019 NSPMA Scholarship
