Announcements 10-23-18

Parent-Teacher Conference will be Tuesday, Oct 23, from 2-8 p.m.  School will dismissed at 1:25 for car riders and 1:30 for bus riders. There will be no school on Friday, Oct 26. Flu Shot Packets will be available.  Flu Shot Clinic will be October 30.

Senior Composite Pictures are here.  Letters have been sent home to parents to set up a time to view them.   Deadline is October 31, 2018.

Josten's will return on Wednesday to take orders for Sr. Rings and Sr. Announcements and other items.

The following students will be attending National FFA Convention (October 23-27th): Brent Gossett, Austin Fair, Chandler Smart, Morgan Smart, Emma Shaw, Katelyn Jackson, Presley Tullos, and Madison VanderKooi.

Current Senior High FBLA members are invited to celebrate Piggott FBLA's 33rd birthday today in the library during activity period! We will also discuss upcoming events and sign up for competitive events.

Chasing the Dragon will be shown on Wednesday, Oct. 24 for 9-11th Grade students beginning at 1:00 in the Middle Gym.  

A representative from the Air National Guard will have a table set up for a lunch visit on Thursday, Oct 25th.

Junior High Football will play their last game of the season at Newport on Thursday.

Senior Volleyball will be playing tonight at 5:30.

The following students need to meet in Mrs. Tate's room Tuesday at 8:10.  They will be going to elementary to paint faces for grades K-6. There will be an announcement made when they return from painting: Jamara Ball, Jawslyn Gates, Ashley Jeffries, Hayley Miller, Hannah Blades, Madison Bowers, Abby Dutka, Candace Hackworth, Louis Lin, McKenna Moody, Corbin Reagan, Amber Reed, Jewel Reed, Jillian Scudder, Makayla Allman, Destini Chase, Trista Crow, Audrey Little, Megan Marcus, Shalyn Parrish, Emma Shaw, Kirsten Smith, Savannah Wright.

The following Powderpuff Volleyball Team Captains need to meet in the FCS room during activity period Tuesday, Oct. 23 to discuss t-shirts and practice schedules:Bryon Poole, Tanner Dixon, Landen Moore, Cooper Harris, and Luke Boyd.

The following students (and Miss Vernon) will be attending the field trip to see The Hunchback of Notre Dame in Jonesboro at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24. We will be leaving at 7:00 a.m. from the new gym parking lot. We hope to be back between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. in time for the showing of “Chasing the Dragon” for the upperclassmen: Charidy Featherston, Shawnee Latimer, Audrey Little, Destiny Maine, Aaron Mauldin, Natalie Petago, Destiny Potter, Jacynda Vierling, Breanne Musgraves, Joseph Gates

Please allow the following FCCLA members to come to the FCS room each day during activity period through November 5:   Carly Benbrook, Jordon Leggett, , Micha Ermert, Adel Fuwell

Also, these are the FCCLA members who will be competing in STAR Events and will be out all day Tuesday, November 6:  Carly Benbrook, Jordon Leggett, , Micha Ermert, Adel Fuwell,Ashlyn Roberts, Aliya Shultz, Kaylee Smith, and Jordan Tate.

"DRAMA CLUB MEMBERS:  If you have not returned your slip from the letter distributed at the last meeting, tickets will not be ordered for you to attend trips. We will be attending Hunchback of Notre Dame the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 24, and Little Shop of Horrors the following evening. All Hunchback tickets are currently claimed. Miss Vernon will be ordering Little Shop tickets soon. They are $15. There is room for two or three more people to join in on this trip.  At this point five tickets for Les Mis have not been claimed. They will be sold on a first come first served basis. They are $37.25."

Art Club members need to pay their dues by October 31st.

Seniors:  Deadline for Senior Ads for the Yearbook online is November 16.

FCCLA is sponsoring a Powderpuff Volleyball Game. Yes, the boys will play and girls will coach. The dates are Friday, November 2 and the Battle of the Sexes will be moved to Monday, November 5. Games still starting at 6:00.  Participants who have not paid may see Mrs. Little to pay the $3.00.Also, consent forms are ready for pick up and are due back by this Thursday, Oct. 25.

FBLA dues are $10 and can be paid to Mrs. Peters through the end of October. FBLA T-shirts may be ordered until the last day to pay dues, which is October 31. Dues are $10.

Seniors:  Horatio Alger Scholarship is available online at scholars.horatioalger.org -- deadline is October 25 

Seniors:  The Hagan Scholarship is available online.  Application deadline is November 15, 2018.  Application and eligibility requirements are online at www.hsfmo.org

Seniors:  American Legion scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Must be child, grandchild, or great grandchild of American Legionnaire.  Application must be received at their department on or before March 12, 2019.

SENIORS: Seven License2HOWL Scholarships are available for the 2018-19 academic year for incoming freshmen at Arkansas State University. These scholarships are valued at $5,000 for the year and are renewable for recipients who continue to meet criteria and re-apply.Beginning this year, we will be utilizing the application process for incoming freshmen through the University’s privately funded scholarship process. The application link will be available from December 2, 2018 - February 1, 2019. 

L2H scholarships are for Arkansas residents who will be full-time freshmen on the Jonesboro campus, have a minimum ACT score of 23 and a high school GPA of 3.25 or above. Also, please note the acceptable GPA has changed from 3.5 to 3.25 in an effort to accommodate more students, giving them the opportunity to receive one of these awards. The selection committee will evaluate demonstrated leadership qualities and student involvement.

Juniors & Seniors interested in majoring in Theatre---ASU is offering a Launch program on November 10.  It is free.  See Mrs. Amber for registration.  Deadline is Nov 1.
