Announcements 10-22-18

Congratulations to the Mohawk Marching Band for the Paragould Marching Invitational Results: 

1st Place -Drum Major, 1st Place - color guard, 2nd Place- Percussion, Superior rated Drum Major, Superior rated Percussion, and Excellent rated Band

Students will be dismissed at 1:25 for a Sendoff to State for the Volleyball Team.  All students should go to the New Gym parking lot. We will return to class after the rally.

Teachers:  Grade Verification Sheets are in your mailboxes.  These should be checked and corrected, initialed, and taken to Mrs. Angie ASAP.  

Junior High and Senior High cheerleaders need to be dismissed at 1:00 for the Red Ribbon Rally at elementary school. 

There will also be Band members who will go to the elementary for the rally.

Driver's Test will be  Tuesday, Oct. 23.  This is the last day to see Mrs. Shamala for forms needed for this month's test.

Senior Composite Pictures are here.  Letters have been sent home to parents to set up a time to view them.   Deadline is October 31, 2018.

Parent-Teacher Conference will be Tuesday, Oct 23, from 2-8 p.m.  There will be no school on Friday, Oct 26.

Josten's will return on Wednesday to take orders for Sr. Rings and Sr. Announcements and other items.

Chasing the Dragon will be shown on Wednesday, Oct. 24 for 9-11th Grade students beginning at 1:00.  

A representative from the Air National Guard will have a table set up for a lunch visit on Thursday, Oct 25th.

The following students need to meet in Mrs. Tate's room Tuesday at 8:10.  They will be going to elementary to paint faces for grades K-6. There will be an announcement made when they return from painting: Jamara Ball, Jawslyn Gates, Ashley Jeffries, Hayley Miller, Hannah Blades, Madison Bowers, Abby Dutka, Candace Hackworth, Louis Lin, McKenna Moody, Corbin Reagan, Amber Reed, Jewel Reed, Jillian Scudder, Makayla Allman, Destini Chase, Trista Crow, Audrey Little, Megan Marcus, Shalyn Parrish, Emma Shaw, Kirsten Smith, Savannah Wright.

The following Powderpuff Volleyball Team Captains need to meet in the FCS room during activity period Tuesday, Oct. 23 to discuss t-shirts and practice schedules:Bryon Poole, Tanner Dixon, Landen Moore, Cooper Harris, and Luke Boyd

7th and 8th Grade Wheel classes will change on Monday (TODAY).  The lists were given to teachers and posted.

9th grade boys interested in playing Volleyball should see the coaches in your grade to sign up:9th -Emma Riddle, Elise Gossett or Taylor Smart

FCCLA will meet Monday morning during activity period in the FCS room. They will discuss upcoming events and will have the Officer installation ceremony.

Please allow the following FCCLA members to come to the FCS room each day during activity period through November 5:   Carly Benbrook, Jordon Leggett, , Micha Ermert, Adel Fuwell

Also, these are the FCCLA members who will be competing in STAR Events and will be out all day Tuesday, November 6:  Carly Benbrook, Jordon Leggett, , Micha Ermert, Adel Fuwell,Ashlyn Roberts, Aliya Shultz, Kaylee Smith, and Jordan Tate.

"DRAMA CLUB MEMBERS:  If you have not returned your slip from the letter distributed at the last meeting, tickets will not be ordered for you to attend trips. We will be attending Hunchback of Notre Dame the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 24, and Little Shop of Horrors the following evening. All Hunchback tickets are currently claimed. Miss Vernon will be ordering Little Shop tickets soon. They are $15. There is room for two or three more people to join in on this trip. See Miss V. before the end of the day Friday if you want to go to this show. At this point eight tickets for Les Mis have not been claimed. They will be sold on a first come first served basis. They are $37.25."

Art Club members need to pay their dues by October 31st.

Seniors:  Deadline for Senior Ads for the Yearbook online is November 16.

FCCLA is sponsoring a Powderpuff Volleyball Game. Yes, the boys will play and girls will coach. The dates are Friday, November 2 and the Battle of the Sexes will be moved to Monday, November 5. Games still starting at 6:00.  Participants who have not paid may see Mrs. Little to pay the $3.00.Also, consent forms are ready for pick up and are due back by this Thursday, Oct. 25.

FBLA dues are $10 and can be paid to Mrs. Peters through the end of October. FBLA T-shirts may be ordered until the last day to pay dues, which is October 31. Dues are $10.

Seniors:  Horatio Alger Scholarship is available online at scholars.horatioalger.org -- deadline is October 25 

Seniors:  The Hagan Scholarship is available online.  Application deadline is November 15, 2018.  Application and eligibility requirements are online at www.hsfmo.org

Seniors:  American Legion scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Must be child, grandchild, or great grandchild of American Legionnaire.  Application must be received at their department on or before March 12, 2019.

SENIORS: Seven License2HOWL Scholarships are available for the 2018-19 academic year for incoming freshmen at Arkansas State University. These scholarships are valued at $5,000 for the year and are renewable for recipients who continue to meet criteria and re-apply.Beginning this year, we will be utilizing the application process for incoming freshmen through the University’s privately funded scholarship process. The application link will be available from December 2, 2018 - February 1, 2019. 

L2H scholarships are for Arkansas residents who will be full-time freshmen on the Jonesboro campus, have a minimum ACT score of 23 and a high school GPA of 3.25 or above. Also, please note the acceptable GPA has changed from 3.5 to 3.25 in an effort to accommodate more students, giving them the opportunity to receive one of these awards. The selection committee will evaluate demonstrated leadership qualities and student involvement.

Juniors & Seniors interested in majoring in Theatre---ASU is offering a Launch program on November 10.  It is free.  See Mrs. Amber for registration.  Deadline is Nov 1.
