Information for District Parents

Keeping your children safe while at school is our district’s top priority. Though our nation has seen sad and frightening violence in our public schools, we wanted to let the community know what the Piggott Schools are doing to make our school as safe as possible.

  • Controlled access- The High School has self-locking doors. All doors are locked with a set timer. Elementary can only enter through front door.
  • Video cameras- The High School has cameras in every classroom, hallways, gym, parking lot and office. The Elementary has cameras in the office and the front entrance.
  • School Resource Officer- We are in the process of hiring a full-time SRO and setting up a time for staff to be trained by a SRO. We will have a Resource Officer on duty for the rest of the year.
  • Fire and Tornado Drills- Monthly fire drills and four tornado drills ensure our students and staff are prepared for a quick exit of our buildings.
  • Crisis Intervention Plan- The district has a system in place where administrators are informed of an emergency situation. In turn, parents and the community can be informed within moments through the use of School APP and other forms of social media.

If and when an emergency arises, our district staff is trained to respond in a timely and accurate manner. Of course, we consider the matter of School Safety everyone’s business. So we ask you to keep your eyes open and to report any unsafe conditions to a teacher or administrator. Together, we can continue to create a security network for the safety of students and staff.
