This week, PHS will host the 3A-3 District Tournament.  Admission is $5.00 and everyone must pay except the Senior High Girls and Boys Basketball players.  Mohawks play tonight at 8:30.

Teachers:  Please do not park behind the building this week because of the District Tournament.  

Perfect Attendance Day is Friday, Feb 16. Please see Mrs. Conley if you have a question. We be out for President's Day, Monday, Feb. 19.

Congratulations to Jeremy Samples for winning the AE Diamond of Excellence Award yesterday. 

Mandatory Girls Track Practice for grades 7-12 will begin next Tuesday, February 20th. It will last from 3:30-4:30 and will be held at the track.

Congratulations to Jawslyn Gates for receiving the "You Can Make a Difference" award for her volunteering during the fair to make sure each artwork was properly placed in the correct category.  

**FCCLA has chosen 2 boys from each grade to run for Sadie Hawkins Beau for their grade.  Each boy and a girl of their choose will be carrying buckets for donations.  The boy with the most money will become the beau.  Seniors have 4 boys John Jones, Quentin Reeves, Devin Riley, and Carrington McDaniel. One Senior will be crowned king and one senior beau.  Tuesday is the last day to donate. All proceeds will be donated to the Hannah Blankenship Memorial Scholarship. Support your favorite guy. The Sadie Hawkins Assembly will be February 15.

Jr. High Baseball practice MondayTuesday and Thursday 6 to 7:30 at the old gym.

This week, February 12-16, Piggott FBLA will celebrate FBLA week! Flyers are posted throughout the building explaining the different days. We will wear our t-shirts on Thursday!  All activities are for both Senior High and Middle Level members! 

FCCLA will also be celebrating this week, Feb. 12-16 for FCCLA Week. We are also trying to limit classroom interruptions as much as possible and should work well with FBLA activities.*** 

The winner of the FCCLA scavenger hunt and $5.00 was Destini Chase.  2nd place was Jordan Leggett and 3rd place was Kaylee Smith they also recieved a payday.

The following FBLA officers will be making and delivering cookies for Cookies for a Wish on Wednesday, Feb. 14They will also be presenting the donation to Make-A-Wish at the Have A Heart Wish-a-Thon on Friday, Feb. 16 in Jonesboro. They will be excused all day both days. I have all of these students either 1st or 2nd period. If you need them to come to your class during my class time, that can be arranged!  Softball will be practicing on Wednesday and Thursday in the middle gym. You must have your physical by Wednesday to play.

Clay County Arts Council is hosting the Night of Chocolate/Murder Mystery on Saturday, February 17 at 6:30 at the Rector Community Center.  Several PHS alumni are performing in the show.  Tickets are $35 and includes a meal.  See Mrs. Cathy Norred for tickets.

STUDENTS:  Any students who parked their vehicle behind the school or at the Old Gym needs to move the vehicles during activity period.  It will be checked. Students are to park in the parking lot by the New Gym and Middle Gym only.

Students:  Many students have been wearing hoods in the hallways and classes.  You may put your hood up outside but inside the building, we are not to wear hoods up on your head.  This falls under the rule of no hats.

Students planning to take the driver's test in February should see Mrs. Shamala by Friday, February 23 to get their paperwork.  The test will be on Tuesday, February 27.

**Spring Blood drive is February 21.  See Mrs. Amber to sign up.

The 1st Annual Miss Mohawk Beauty Pageant hosted by the Piggott Mohawk Band Boosters will be on February 24, 2018 in the middle gym. In order to participate in the Miss Northeast Arkansas Pageant you will need to participate and place in the top five in your category in the Miss Mohawk Pageant. Registration packets can be picked up in the high school office or Mr. Wortham in the band room.

The AMMC Beauty Pageant will be held Saturday, March 10th at the GCT High School.  If  you are interested  - see Mrs. Amber for a registration form.  Early bird deadline is Feb 23.  Registration Deadline is March 6 @ noon.

Walnut Ridge High School is hosting the Miss NEA Pageant this year.  The pageant will be open to 5 girls in each division from our school.  This will be on Friday, April 6 at 6:30 for Miss NEA and Saturday, April 7 for Junior Miss and Teen Miss. at 2:00. You may pick up packets in the office.

**The following seniors have not submitted profiles to Miss Vernon. These were due on JANUARY 13th. If you do not get a profile turned in by , you will not have profile info in the yearbook, or an article in the Clay County Times-Democrat’s graduation section! The Area I Special Olympics Basketball Competition will be Friday, February 23. Please put this on your calendars.

***Seniors:  RCE Vocational Scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  This is for students going to Vo Tech or a Trade school.  The application makes you eligible for one of two scholarships - $500/$2500.  Deadline is March 28, 2018.

Seniors:  Farm Credit scholarship application is available online at farmcreditmidsouth.com/community/scholarships - deadline is March 8, 2018.  You must be sponsored by a Farm Credit Midsouth customer.

Seniors: If you are of documentable Native American descent from a federally recognized tribe - see Mrs. Amber for scholarship application.  Documentation required.  Deadline is April 16, 2018

Seniors:  We are taking a College Day to tour BRTC-Paragould, ASU-Jonesboro and back to ASU-Paragould. The date is pending right now.  Any senior who would like to go may take a college day. If you have already used your day, you may still go but it will be an absence.  We should return by 2:30.
