 There will be a 7th grade/jr high track meeting on Wednesday during 6th period in Coach Collier's room and Sr high will meet during 5th period in Collier's room.

Friday, January 22 is a FLEX DAY.  We will have Flex days on Fridays until further notice.  Students coming to school should report to the cafeteria.  Breakfast and Lunch will be served.

 Homecoming will be Friday, January 22 vs. Harrisburg.

The PHS Pre-AP class is selling pillows for $5.60 or $6 donation near the art room.  See Mrs. Tate if interested.  The proceeds will go to the Hunter Midkiff scholarship fund and to the Gilbee Family. 

Wednesday, Jan 20- The 8,9, and 10th grade Pace student interested in ASMSA  will meet in the GT Seminar classroom #242 for a zoom meeting.

Attention Students: PLEASE carry a water bottle as you are not able to get a drink from the fountain unless you have a bottle.  It can be a disposable type or a reusable type.  

You MUST WEAR MASKS in the hallway and in classes that cannot be socially distanced. Please also put your masks on anytime you are mobile including the cafeteria during lunch.  Students must come in the cafeteria/building when arriving at school. No one is to stay in vehicles in the parking lot or leave campus. This is not a new rule.

2020-2021 PHS yearbook order forms were sent home. There is a payment plan to help our families. Online ordering is available at Jostensyearbooks.com.

**STUDENTS: Please remember that when they get up from the lunch tables you must have their masks on.

**Seniors: Williams Baptist University offers a Williams Works Program which is a work program where students will work 16 hours a week and receive a work scholarship to cover tuition. Deadline to apply is February 1, 2021. Apply at williamsbu.edu/williamsworks or see Mrs. Amber.

^^^^LICENSE2HOWL SCHOLARSHIP- Entering Freshman Awards (for those entering A-State in Fall 2021) ---AMOUNT AND TERM OF AWARD:  $5,000 per academic year ($2,500 per semester) provided income to the fund is sufficient. Up to seven awards will be presented annually.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR RECEIVING SCHOLARSHIP:

  • Candidate must be a full-time student at ASU-Jonesboro.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the state of Arkansas.
  • Entering freshmen must have a minimum ACT superscore of 23 and high school GPA of 3.25.
  • Essay for License2Howl: In your own words, please tell us why you would be the best representative of the L2H license plate scholarship. Limit to one page.
  • Personal statement of why you have chosen A-State, and what you hope to accomplish as a student. Please include academic, personal, and leadership positions. Limit to one page.
  • Resume or list of activities, awards and leadership positions. Special consideration based on demonstrated leadership qualities while in high school. Limit to one page.
  • You may include one or two letters of reference, limit one page each. (Optional)
  • Special consideration given to those students who are living on campus. 
  • Students who are awarded the A-State Scholar scholarship will not be considered.
  • Only complete applications submitted within the application process of October 1, 2020 through the deadline of February 1, 2021 will be considered.

***The EAST scholarship provides high school seniors who participate in their campus EAST programs the opportunity to earn a 12-15 hour tuition scholarship while attending the University of Arkansas at Monticello.  UAM awards two per year.  Application is attached and listed criteria below: 

  • EAST Scholarship Award: Tuition for up to 15 academic hours of credit, beginning the fall semester immediately following the high school senior year. Eligibility: Any high school graduating senior is eligible to apply who completes a scholarship application, shows proof of at least two years of active involvement in a recognized high school EAST program, has a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average, a minimum ACT composite score of 19 or comparable SAT score and a minimum score of 19 in English, Reading, and Mathematics, and provides two letters of reference regarding EAST service and performance. Any major in any degree program offered by UAM is accepted. Selected award(s) must be used the first semester immediately following high school graduation and will be made by the Scholarship Committee. Additional Criteria: Any student selected for this award will be required to complete an assignment on campus for a minimum of 10 hours per week each semester the award is made. Arrangements for the assignment will be coordinated through the Scholarship Office. Priority deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 1. Renewal Criteria: Minimum completion of 12 hours of college level work the first semester and 15 hours in the second semester and thereafter and minimum of 3.00 GPA in an academic year.

***Seniors:  The MFA Foundation Scholarship is available online at www.MFAFoundation.com.Applicants must be a child or grandchild (including step) of a member -level customer.  The membership number and relation must be on the application.  Deadline is February 15, 2021

****University of Central Arkansas -The Windgate Scholarship is based on talent and financial need and can be worth up to $2,000 per semester in the freshman year, based on amount of financial need. The scholarship is renewable and can increase up to $1,000 each year.  In the senior year, up to $5,000 per semester can potentially be awarded.  Two such scholarships will be awarded to incoming freshmen for the 2021-2022 academic year. To be eligible for the Scholarship, students must do the following:

1)    Complete on-line submission of an FAFSA form by the deadline indicated in the Application.   Instructions for accessing the form are provided in the Application; 2)        Return a completed Application, along with the requested materials, via United States Mail, to my office by the deadline shown in the Application; 3)   Plan to declare Art as their major emphasis of study; and, 4)  Attend the University of Central Arkansas in the fall 2021 semester.

**Seniors: The American Legion Scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office. You must be a child, grandchild, or great grandchild of an American Legionnaire. Applications must be received by March 12,2021.
