 Parent-Teacher Conference will be TODAY, Thursday, Oct.  19 from 2:30 - 5:30.    There is no School on Friday.

FFA students who will be out for the Arkansas State Fair :-Presley Tullos, Ericka Smart, Hannah Smart, Madison Vanderkooi, Allison Kilbreath, Hannah Powell, Maggie Williams, Molly Williams

The Sr. Recognition Pep Rally will be Thursday during activity period.

Please excuse the following PACE students to attend a Small Business Leadership competition ar ASU on Thursday, Oct. 19: Noah Gregory, Jaclyn Helms, Austin Johnson, Brielle Burkman, Carly Benbrook, Louis Lin, Molly Lambert, Cade Timms, Jake Toombs, Natalie Blake, Madison Arenaz, Cameron Collier, Micha Harrell, Emma Gossett, Rosie Garcia, Amber Fenton, Karla Craig, Tyson Peters, Reece Dotson, Braden Deckard, Colton Haywood, Emma Graddy, and Brent Gossett. They will be out all day.

Congratulations to the Pride of Clay County - Mohawk Marching Band for qualifying for the State Competition on October 30.  

Please excuse the following students to take the PSAT on October 25th from 7:50 -11:00:  Brielle Burkman, Jaclyn Helms, Austin Johnson, and Louis Lin.

There will be a Sr High FBLA meeting on Tuesday, October 24, in the library during activity period.  This is for all members but those signed up for the Grizzlies game must attend. 

Next week will be College Admission Week:  On Monday, all Teachers and Seniors should wear College Colors.  Tuesday, Oct. 24, will be FAFSA night at 6:00 in the computer lab.  Wednesday, Oct. 25 will be College Application Day during activity period in the library. (This could run into 3rd pd.)

Tuesday, Oct. 31 (Halloween)- Students will be allowed to wear school appropriate costumes if they purchase a $1 sticker in the cafeteria before school.  Prizes will be given for the best costume.

There will be a Spanish Club Meeting during activity period on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

There will a Silent Auctions at the Progressive Eye Center on Halloween night from 3-7 p.m.  Come by to see works of art from our local young artists.

Congratulations to Emilee Seegraves for being named All-State in Tennis for the 4th year in a row.  This is a state record.  Also, congrats to Josh Lyman/Carrington McDaniel for being names All-State Honorable Mention for Tennis.

*Seniors:  There will be a Razorback Connections night this Thursday, October 18 @ 6:00 at the Jonesboro Hilton Garden Inn, Jonesboro.  A representative from U of A will be there to discuss scholarships, the admissions process, and answer questions.  See Ms. Rachel Dowdy or Mrs. Amber to register.

Seniors:  Scholarship opportunity at www.theafoundation.org/scholarships. This is for any your artist, poet, fashion designer, performer, or filmmaker. You do not have to major in an art-related field.  This is good for any 2-yr or 4-yr college in AR.

Seniors:  The Hagan Scholarship application is available at www.hsfmo.org - deadline is November 15, 2017.  See website for eligibility requirements.

Juniors and Seniors:  Arkansas Tech University is having an Open House this  Saturday, October 21, 2017.  You can register at www.atu.edu/admissions/openhouse.php

The Red Cross Blood drive is next Thursday, Oct. 26 from 9:00 - 2:00.  See Mrs. Amber to sign-up.  You must have parental consent (see Mrs. Amber for a permission slip) if you are 16.

Elementary Beta workers for Thursday, Oct.19 are Ashley Grissom, Lauren Pickett, Emilee Seegraves, and Raven Killian. Students need to remember to sign in with Ms. Katina at elementary and sign in with Mrs. Shamala when arriving at high school.

Students in grades 9th-12th who have taken an art class may join the Art Club by paying $15 which includes a club t-shirt to Mrs. Tate.  Deadline is October 31st.

FBLA will be collecting new pairs of socks throughout the month of October. All socks donated will be given to Piggott Elementary for them to use as needed. We are asking students to turn in their donated socks to their CAPS advisers as a way for us to keep up with the group that collects the most. I will collect them from you throughout the month so we can keep a running total. Winning CAPS group will get a donut party on our next available food day!

Teachers:  Date Change:  Flu Shots will be given at PHS  on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

Reserve your 2018 copy of The Mohawk yearbook today. A plain book is $40. A personalized book is $45, icons will be $3 each.  Signature packages are $53 and include the yearbook, one line of personalization, a color autograph section, and eight multicolor signing markers. --If you only want personalization (or personalization with icons), please enter a package price of $40 and add the $5 for personalization in the grid at the bottom. Be sure you write your name exactly as you want it engraved in the boxes on section two. 

STUDENTS: You must make a downpayment to reserve your copy of the 2018 edition of The Mohawk yearbook. NO BOOKS WILL BE ORDERED WITHOUT A PARTIAL PAYMENT. You can pay in installments and put down a downpayment .

You may also opt to order online at jostensyearbooks.com. Just search for PIGGOTT HIGH SCHOOL. Online orders may be paid with a debit or credit card, but be aware they will have 10% sales tax collected. Books ordered at high school will not have sales tax collected on them. Please make checks payable to Piggott High School. The yearbook staff and Miss Vernon thank you in advance for your continued support of our publication.

**Seniors going into nursing or another medical field:  UAMS is hosting "A Day in the Life" workshop.  "A Day in the Life of a Nurse" is Wednesday, Dec 6 "A Day in the Life - Variety" is Wednesday, Nov 29 .You must have a 2.75 GPA - travel to Jonesboro is on your own - See Mrs. Amber for an application.  Deadline is November 1.

Seniors:  The Horatio Alger Scholarship application is available online at scholars.horatioalger.org  - the eligibility criteria is online also. Deadline is October25, 2017.

Beta dues for old members are $10 and need to be paid and *New Beta members need to turn in their $20 dues and letters to Mrs. Flowers or Mrs. Coomer by the end of October. 

It's time to Join FCCLA! Students in grades 9-12 interested in joining FCCLA are to see Mrs. Little. 

Juniors, You must pay your class dues ASAP.  See your CAPS advisor for what you owe.  November 1, 2017 is the deadline, your dues must be paid or arrangements made by this date. 

FBLA will sell cookies at the beginning of 7th period  on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays to classrooms. Cookies are still $.75 each. We may not make it to every class every time we sell, but will alternate to make sure we get to every class at least once each week. 

Students:  The new door locks are now working.  You have one minute after the tardy bell rings before the door locks re-engage.  You may have to walk around to the front doors unless you are walking in later with a teacher.  Please be diligent about getting where you are supposed to be in a timely manner.

Do not knock loudly on or pull on the outside doors.  The doors are being damaged.  You will be responsible for any damages to the doors plus suspension.

Students:  When you arrive at school, you must come into the cafeteria.  Please do not stay in vehicles or walk off campus. Duty teachers will make room for you when you come in the doors. 

Students: Cell phones may used in the cafeteria ONLY- not in the hall way going to the cafeteria.

Students:  Do NOT park in the VFW Building Parking Lot or by the Old Gym.
