Thank you to all who helped raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation with fundraisers and the bucket brigade. Piggott raised $14,700.92

Tuesday through Friday, February 5-8 are AMI days.  Students should complete AMI Day 2-5 packets.  Failure to do so results in being counted absent for those days and counts toward semester test exemptions. AMI packets are graded and can result in a 0 if not completed and returned.  ALL packets are due TODAY,Tuesday, February 19.

Special Olympics Basketball will be Friday, March 1. 

FBLA Week:  TODAY, Tuesday will be the FBLA scavenger hunt. Members in grades 7-12 may participate by coming and picking up a clue from me. They will be lead to find the FBLA officers throughout the building. The kids will be instructed not to run. If you see any inappropriate behavior during this time please report it to me ASAP so I can handle the situation appropriately. 

  • Wednesday, - Let's Be Social! Check FBLA social media pages for contests during your lunch period and after school on Wednesday. Prizes for contest winners will be handed out Thursday!
  • Thursday, games in the library during activity period.
  • Friday, ice cream social in the library during activity period. We will have ice cream sundae fixings in the teachers’ lounge after Activity Period.

The juniors will be taking the ACT test this Wednesday, February 20th.  It will last into 5th hour.  Mr. Baldwin, Mrs. Flowers, and Ms. Crommie will be administering the test.

There will be a Junior High Softball meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 20 in the New Gym during activity period.  

The ACT testing for all Juniors will be next Wednesday, Feb. 20. There will be no announcements on that day. 

The February Driver's Test will be Tuesday, Feb. 26.  Any student planning to take the test in February should see Mrs. Shamala by Thursday, Feb. 21 for paperwork.

Second annual Miss Mohawk pageant will be held February 23 in the Middle Gym sponsored by the Mohawk Band Boosters. If anyone needs registration forms, I have them in the band room.  Deadline is the 15th.

Girls interested in entering the AMMC Beauty Pageant on Sat March 2 - see Mrs. Amber for registration form.

Seniors:  The Reverend Charlie E. and Cinderella S. Taylor Sr. Foundation scholarship application is available at http://www.cctaylorfoundation.org/application.html Deadline is March 31, 2019

Students who wish to attend the Drama Club field trip to see Mamma Mia at Paragould on Feb. 22nd need to see Miss Vernon to turn in their permission slips and pay $15 for their tickets ASAP.

Auditions for the spring production by the Drama Club will be from 4:30 to 6:30 on Tuesday, Feb. 26, and Thursday, Feb. 28th. Students must pick up an audition packet and conflict sheet and return them before they audition. Packets will be available by Wednesday of this week.

Juniors and Seniors: There are sign up sheets in the office to sign up for after prom and for them to include there dates that they will be taking with them.

The junior class is selling Boston Butts for an After Prom fundraiser. They will be 25.00 dollars. If you would like to order, please let Sherry Taylor know. They will be ready for pick up on Saturday, March 9th at the PHS Gym. See Mrs. Jean in Room #218 for tickets.

Spend a Day with a Judge Essay Contest, and the Courtroom Artist Competition: In observance of Law Day, the Legal Related Education Super Committee of the Arkansas Bar Association is conducting a state-wide contest for Arkansas high school students, with winners receiving the select honor to “Spend a Day with a Judge.”  

Selected students will get the honor of spending the day with a judge, obtaining insight about what it is like to be a judge, and understanding law from the judge’s perspective. Current Judges who have volunteered to host a student include Arkansas Supreme Court Judges, Court of Appeals Judges, Federal Judges, and Circuit Judges.

What is the Courtroom Artist Competition?  This entry will be a live courtroom drawing, which must be conducted at one of our Regional Mock Trial competitions on March 2, 2019, and turned in for judging.  Regional Mock Trial competitions are located in Jonesboro, AR.

Applications for the Arkansas Rural Education Scholarship for School employee's child is available.  Due date is  April 5, 2019.  See Mrs. Amber or Mrs. Conley for application.

Seniors:  Farm Credit scholarship is available online at farmcreditmidsouth.com/community/scholarships - deadline is March 8, 2019.  Applicants must be sponsored by a Farm Credit Midsouth customer.

Seniors:  American Legion scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Must be child, grandchild, or great grandchild of American Legionnaire.  Application must be received at their department on or before March 12, 2019.

Seniors:  MFA scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Deadline is March 15, 2019.  Consideration goes to applicants furthering their education related to agriculture or other fields of study that benefit rural life.

SENIORS:  The Arkansas School Plant Management Association scholarship application is for any graduating senior planning to attend a college/university, vocational-technical or trade school who has at least a 3.0 GPA and at least a 19 on the ACT.  You must complete the application, essay, and 2 recommendation letters. See Mrs. Amber, Mrs. Conley, or Ms. Rachel for more information. Deadline is April 1.

Seniors:  The Hannah Blankenship Memorial Scholarship is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  This scholarship will be awarded to a young woman pursuing an agricultural field of study.  Applications must be submitted by April 1.
