Announcements 2-11-19

Tuesday through Friday, February 5-8 are AMI days.  Students should complete AMI Day 2-5 packets.  Failure to do so results in being counted absent for those days and counts toward semester test exemptions. AMI packets are graded and can result in a 0 if not completed and returned.  ALL packets are due on Tuesday, February 19.

Teachers: Grades need to be in the computer by the end of the day on Today February 11th.  Progress Reports go home on Wednesday February 13th.

PACE is selling Valentine's Day gifts for $5.  Money is due by Monday, Feb. 11. Orders forms are posted in the hallways.

Seniors who have applied to Williams Baptist University and juniors interested in WBU - a representative will be here Monday, Feb 11 during activity period.

12th Grade Beta Members need to meet with Mrs. Flowers on next Tuesday, February 19.

     Rescheduled-   Wednesday, There will be a Junior Class meeting in the cafeteria during act. pd.

     Seniors who plan to go on the Senior Trip on May 10th need to sign up with Mr. Johnson By TODAY so reservations can be made.

Sadie Hawkins boys and their girl come to the FCS room today to discuss the new date for turning in money. All proceeds will be given to the Cody Shaw Family, so when see these boys and/or the girls carring cans please donate and help out!

This is FCCLA week:  Monday thru Wednesday FCCLA members will be selling tickets for Ice Cream Floats or Sundaes for Valentine's Day Thursday the 14th. Buy your ticket in advance (may buy that day only while supples last) $2.00 for float or sundae 

Monday: We are also kicking off the week with a poster campaign to promote FCCLA.

Tuesday: We are ask everyone to wear red to show your support.  When we see you in red, a FCCLA member will give you a kiss (a Hershey's kiss) while supplies last.

Wednesday: FCCLA members and teachers will receive an appreciation Gift.

Thursday- Ice Cream Floats or Sundaes for $2.00 in the FCS room.  Bring your prepaid ticket the last 15 minutes of each class period starting 4th hour. Your ice cream will be waiting for you when you arrive.  Others who did not purchase a ticket my buy ice cream while supplies last.
Friday-  No school - Enjoy your day the FCCLA way with positive activities!

Sadie Hawkins Royalty Assembly will be Thursday, Feb 28 during activity period.  All money should be turned in on Wednesday, Feb. 27. 

Special Olympics Basketball will be Friday, March 1.

Any student or teacher who would like to order Cookies for this Thursday should see Mrs. Peters as soon as possible. Cookies will be available for purchase on Thursday while supplies last. Delivery is available. 

Senior High FBLA members must turn in Scentsy fundraiser orders with money to Mrs. Peters by tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Congratulations to the following Middle Level FBLA members for placing at the District II Conference last Wednesday: Emily Conley, 5th Place, 3rd Place individual awards to Ava Baggett, Leslie Reaves, and Anna Haley. Anna will also represent District II at the State Leadership Conference in April. Morgan Rahn was elected to serve as District II Middle Level Treasurer.

Students who wish to attend the Drama Club field trip to see Mamma Mia at Paragould on Feb. 22nd need to see Miss Vernon to get their permission slips and pay for their tickets in advance. Miss Vernon is still finding out how much the tickets will be for us. She thinks they will be $15.

Auditions for the spring production by the Drama Club will be from 4:30 to 6:30 on Tuesday, Feb. 26, and Thursday, Feb. 28th. Students must pick up an audition packet and conflict sheet and return them before they audition. Packets will be available by Wednesday of this week.

Junior Historians will meet in Room 207 Wednesday, Feb 13 during Activity Period.

Juniors and Seniors: There are sign up sheets in the office to sign up for after prom and for them to include there dates that they will be taking with them.

Spring Blood Drive - Wednesday, February 13 - see Mrs. Amber to sign up.  Must be at least 16 to sign up.  (16 year olds must have permission slip - you can get from Mrs. Amber)

The junior class is selling Boston Butts for an After Prom fundraiser. They will be 25.00 dollars. If you would like to order, please let Sherry Taylor know. They will be ready for pick up on Saturday, March 9th at the PHS Gym. See Mrs. Jean in Room #218 for tickets.

Spend a Day with a Judge Essay Contest, and the Courtroom Artist Competition: In observance of Law Day, the Legal Related Education Super Committee of the Arkansas Bar Association is conducting a state-wide contest for Arkansas high school students, with winners receiving the select honor to “Spend a Day with a Judge.”  

Selected students will get the honor of spending the day with a judge, obtaining insight about what it is like to be a judge, and understanding law from the judge’s perspective. Current Judges who have volunteered to host a student include Arkansas Supreme Court Judges, Court of Appeals Judges, Federal Judges, and Circuit Judges.

What is the Courtroom Artist Competition?  This entry will be a live courtroom drawing, which must be conducted at one of our Regional Mock Trial competitions on March 2, 2019, and turned in for judging.  Regional Mock Trial competitions are located in Jonesboro, AR.

Second annual Miss Mohawk pageant will be held February 23 in the Middle Gym sponsored by the Mohawk Band.

Applications for the Arkansas Rural Education Scholarship for School employee's child is available.  Due date is  April 5, 2019.  See Mrs. Amber or Mrs. Conley for application.

Seniors:  Farm Credit scholarship is available online at farmcreditmidsouth.com/community/scholarships - deadline is March 8, 2019.  Applicants must be sponsored by a Farm Credit Midsouth customer.

Seniors:  American Legion scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Must be child, grandchild, or great grandchild of American Legionnaire.  Application must be received at their department on or before March 12, 2019.

Seniors:  MFA scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Deadline is March 15, 2019.  Consideration goes to applicants furthering their education related to agriculture or other fields of study that benefit rural life.

SENIORS:  The Arkansas School Plant Management Association scholarship application is for any graduating senior planning to attend a college/university, vocational-technical or trade school who has at least a 3.0 GPA and at least a 19 on the ACT.  You must complete the application, essay, and 2 recommendation letters. See Mrs. Amber, Mrs. Conley, or Ms. Rachel for more information. Deadline is April 1.

Seniors:  The Hannah Blankenship Memorial Scholarship is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  This scholarship will be awarded to a young woman pursuing an agricultural field of study.  Applications must be submitted by April 1.
