Congratulations to the 7th Grade Girls Basketball Team for defeating Trumann last night.

7th/Jr/Sr Boys Basketball plays Trumann tonight at Home beginning at 5:00.

Senior Ads for the yearbook staff to create ONLY will be extended through Friday, Dec. 7, 2018.

Yearbook prices are now $42 until January 11.  Order forms are in the office.  

Congratulations to the following Mohawk Football players who earned awards for their performances during the 2018-19 Football season.  Kyson Conley, Dylan Bellers, Luke Carpenter, Gunner Shaw, Luke Boyd, Dalton James, Sky Wright, Matthew Bowers, and Trey Gossett.

Piggott is in the mix for the Yarnell's Sweetest Play of the Year.  Pocahontas and Piggott were selected along with Little Rock Catholic, Conway, Charleston, and Greenwood. Redskins QB Dawson Chester had a highlight TD run in a win over Brookland. The Mohawks dialed up a hook & ladder on the first play of the Rice Bowl.   You can vote at https://www.yarnells.com/sweetest-play, the poll closes December 13th at 12:00pm. The winning school receives the following: - Grand prize trophy, - $1,000 to the respective school’s booster club, - Yarnell’s Ice Cream party

The PACE and Chess team pictures will be taken for the yearbook during activity period Tuesday, December 4th. Please go to the middle gym for these pictures.

Art Club members:  butter braids will be here Wednesday, December 5th.  Be prepared to pick them up by 2.  

The Christmas parade is this Saturday at 5.  Art Club Members: turn in your businesses and donations for box parade.  Decorating will be after school every day starting Tuesday.  See Mrs. Tate if you need a box and want to decorate at home.

Any Senior High FBLA member who can work at Christmas Fest this Saturday should sign up in Mrs. Peters room no later than Thursday.
FBLA Senior High and Middle Level members should bring 2 items to donate to the Arkansas Children's Hospital by Tuesday, December 11 if you want to attend this year's FBLA Christmas party. All members should see Mrs. Peters to pick up a list of donation items and Christmas party details.

There will be a Junior Historian meeting Wednesday in Room 207 during Activity Period.

Please excuse the following students in Mrs. Peters's Intro to Mobile App Development class during 6th period next Tuesday. They will be working with 5-6 grade students at PES on the Hour of Code for Computer Science in Education week. The Piggott district spelling bee will begin at 9 am on Wednesday, December 12, in the PES library. 

Jostens will be here on Thursday, Dec. 13 to deliver class rings.  You must have your balanced paid before you can pick up your ring.

LOST AND FOUND:  There have been several items from the Middle Gym turned into the office.  Please see Mrs. Shamala or Mrs. Conley if you are missing a jacket, etc.

Announcement from the Principal:  Students are not to be in the gyms unless they are supervised by a school employee.  This is after school, lunch time, activity period, etc.

Seniors:  A representative from ATU will be here on Wednesday, Dec 5 during activity period in the library.

Seniors:  American Legion scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Must be child, grandchild, or great grandchild of American Legionnaire.  Application must be received at their department on or before March 12, 2019.

SENIORS: Seven License2HOWL Scholarships are available for the 2018-19 academic year for incoming freshmen at Arkansas State University. These scholarships are valued at $5,000 for the year and are renewable for recipients who continue to meet criteria and re-apply.Beginning this year, we will be utilizing the application process for incoming freshmen through the University’s privately funded scholarship process. The application link will be available from December 2, 2018 - February 1, 2019. 

L2H scholarships are for Arkansas residents who will be full-time freshmen on the Jonesboro campus, have a minimum ACT score of 23 and a high school GPA of 3.25 or above. Also, please note the acceptable GPA has changed from 3.5 to 3.25 in an effort to accommodate more students, giving them the opportunity to receive one of these awards. The selection committee will evaluate demonstrated leadership qualities and student involvement.

Seniors:  If you plan on majoring in education and enroll in an Arkansas college you can apply for the AAFC Scholarship. Go to www.theaaea.org.  Click "Constituent Groups", “AAFC”, then “AAFC Scholarship.”  The completed application must be received on or before January 10, 2019.

SENIORS:  https://nspma.org/wp-content/u...The National School Plant Management Association (NSPMA) seeks to assist qualified students who are continuing their education by offering scholarships to those pursuing an Associates or Bachelor degree.  Any graduating high school senior, college freshman, sophomore, or junior is eligible to apply for a scholarship. The total number of scholarship awards is based on the NSPMA Scholarship Trust Funds, and awards are based on the selection criteria (financial need, academic achievement, co-curricular participation, community service, and essay response). Individual scholarships may range from $500 up to $1,500 depending on the candidate’s interest, evaluation results, and recommendation from the NSPMA Scholarship Committee. The application receipt deadline is February 1, 2019.  For additional information, please contact Mike Mertens.    2019 NSPMA Scholarship
