Announcements Thursday, March 15, 2018  

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 15 from 2-8 p.m.  Bus riders will be dismissed at 1:30, car riders at 1:35.  

Please dismiss the Baseball team at 1:00 Thursday to travel to Manila. 

Softball team will play at Home Thursday at 4:00 vs. Walnut Ridge.

Please dismiss the Sr High track team Thursday at 1:00.

Juniors:  ASVAB interpretation will be Tuesday, March 27.  You will either be going 1st, 2nd, or 3rd hour to Mr. Danny's room for this.  See your teacher for the period you were assigned.

Piggott Parks and Recreation is taking applications for Lifeguard positions at the Public Pool this summer.  You may pick one up at the Piggott Community Center.  Applications are due Monday, March 26.

Any student in grades 9 - 12 who would like to sign up for the dodgeball game on Friday afternoon will be able to do so in Mr. Wellman's room from activity period through noon on on Friday will be allowed to participate. You must turn in your permission form.

Academic Festival will be Friday, March 16.  We will meet with our CAPS groups form 7:50- 8:10.  Mohawks got talent contest from 8:15-9:25.  9th -12th graders may sign up with Mrs. Conley. Time is limited so entries will be screened.  There will 3 rotations for 10-12th grade and 3 different rotations for 7-9th grade.  After lunch we will have a Dodgeball Tournament played with foam balls and dodgeball rules.  Concession stand will be open in the afternoon.

Juniors and Seniors interested in attending After Prom should pick up an After Prom packet from Mrs. Flowers.   The packet and deposit is due Wednesday, March 28thIf you are bringing a guest that is not a PHS Junior or Senior, you need to pick up an additional packet.   In addition, any Junior attending After Prom should vote on a t-shirt design by Thursday afternoon.  Mrs. Flowers has the ballots.  

Those who would like to help support Child Abuse Awareness please turn in your t-shirt order form by this  to Mrs. Little.  FCCLA thanks you in advance.

If you are a Sophomore or Junior and are interested in taking a college class next year, and did not attend the meeting last week -- see Mrs. Amber

Mr. Wellman needs to see these students who are NOT attending banquet but ARE participating in grand march. These students should see him during activity period only and will need to have this taken care by Thursday.  

Seniors:  If you are majoring in architecture or construction-related engineering programs (civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, geotechnical, environment, etc) - see Mrs. Amber for scholarship application. Deadline April 6, 2018

Seniors: don’t forget your Six Flags permission forms and money are due to Mrs. Peters by April 1! If you need a form, see one of the senior sponsors.

The Junior Class is needing to borrow white Christmas lights for prom.  If anyone would like to contribute, please bring them to Mrs. Tate.  We will tag them, so you will get your lights back.  Thank you.

SPRING BREAK! March 19-23.

SENIORS: Jostens will be here with the senior graduation supply delivery on Monday, March 26 at 9:30 am.  All balances will need to be paid in full to receive ordered items.

Junior and Senior High cheerleaders will be doing a special Easter fundraiser this year! They will be offering a basket of candy and prize filled eggs or they will do the hiding for you the night before Easter. Both options will include a special note from the Easter bunny. Let them know if you would like to place an order!

Any student planning to take the driver's test in March should see Mrs. Shamala by Thursday March 15 to get their paperwork since we will be out for Spring Break the next week. The Driver's test will be Tuesday, March 27.

Seniors:  The Local Scholarship Applications will be on the website this week. It is a fillable application and the name can be changed then application can be printed out.  Deadline is March 30. Applications are to be given to Mrs. Amber.

Seniors:  The Gaylon Lawrence Memorial Scholarship application will also be available this week.  Criteria will be published then. Deadline is April 13. See Mrs. Conley for details.

Seniors:  The Clay County Arts Council scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Deadline is April 3, 2018

The APHA Student Scholarship in the amount of $1000 is given annually.  Criteria:Currently enrolled in the field of public health at an Arkansas school,Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good standing,Required to sit on APHA board as a student representative,Not a previous scholarship recipient,Application Deadline:April 15, 2018, Notification of Scholarship:May 1, 2018

Seniors:  Farm Credit scholarship application is available online at farmcreditmidsouth.com/community/scholarships - deadline is March 8, 2018.  You must be sponsored by a Farm Credit Midsouth customer.

**Seniors:  If you are a child, sibling, or grandchild of a veteran - the NEA Wounded Warrior scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Deadline is April 6, 2018

***SENIORS: MFA scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  Deadline is March 15, 2018 

Seniors:  If you are a child or grandchild of a Farm Bureau member, have a GPA of 2.5 or higher - you can pick up a scholarship application from Mrs. Amber's office.

**Seniors:  The Clay County Cattleman's Association scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  This is for students pursuing a degree in animal science and/or agriculture.  Deadline is April 13.

***April is Child Abuse Awareness month and FCCLA would like to help make everyone aware and show support of this serious issue.   All proceeds from the t-shirt sales will be donated to the Child Help Organization. This is a service project for FCCLA, your support would be greatly appreciated. See Mrs. Little or your English Teacher for an order forms are due  Feel free to wear the t-shirt any day but we have chosen Wednesday April 11 as a day for everyone to wear the shirt.  

 Students entering 11th or 12th grade NEXT year - and are interested in the Project H.E.A.R.T. camp June 12-15, 2018 on the ASU campus in Jonesboro -see Mrs. Amber to submit an application.  Deadline is March 16.  Project HEART is an experience that can enlighten students about future career opportunities in healthcare and to the overall well-being of their community.

***Seniors:  RCE Vocational Scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  This is for students going to Vo Tech or a Trade school.  The application makes you eligible for one of two scholarships - $500/$2500.  Deadline is March 28, 2018.

Seniors: If you are of documentable Native American descent from a federally recognized tribe - see Mrs. Amber for scholarship application.  Documentation required.  Deadline is April 16, 2018
