WHEEL CLASSES Changed Wednesday, March 11.

High School Baseball Parents Meeting on Sunday, March 15 at 2:00 in the High School Library to discuss the Gulf Shores Trip.  This meeting is important and mandatory.

Please excuse Tanner Dixon,Shawn Hudson Seegraves, Dillon Gibson, and Drake Featherston today.  They are with Mr. Simpson.

Please excuse the 9-12th grade Band students today at 1:00. They have a performance in Jonesboro this afternoon.  A list of Band students is in your email.

Next Tuesday, Saint Patrick's Day will be a Hat/PJ day for anyone who wants to pay $1. You will receive a sticker.  Proceeds will go to the After Prom Parent Committee.

****Seniors:  The MFA scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  The committee will consider scholastic progress, citizenship, extracurricular activities, educational plans, and financial need.  Deadline is March 13, 2020.  Turn in applications to Mrs. Amber.

SENIORS planning on going on the Senior Trip on May 8 need to see Mrs. Jo or Mrs. Swann if not already signed up.

Applications for the Jr Fair Board are in the office.  Deadline is next Friday, March 20.

Anyone interested in contributing drawings in the art show for a special category needs to submit their art by TODAY, Friday.

March is Art Youth Month. To celebrate the school is invited to participate in Art Week (March 16th - 20th)--**Overachievers will be rewarded.** 

  • Mon - Favorite Color Day (Dress code still applies)-Wear as much of your favorite color as possible. 
  • Tues - Tie-Dye Day
  • Wed - Abstract Day (mix match your outfit)
  • Thurs - Graphic T-Shirt day/Art Club t-shirt day-Float Day: Art Club Members meet the art room during activity period.
  • Fri - Decorated Hat Day (Hat must be decorated to be able to wear)
  •   **NO HATS ON OTHER DAYS BESIDES DECORATED HAT DAY**
  • Game Day: Art Club Members meet in the new gym.
  • ***Art show: Parent Teacher Conference Day, March 19th

Seniors:  The Horatio Alger National Career & Technical Scholarship is available at application.horatioalger.org.  First priority deadline is April 15, 2020.

Seniors:  The Holly Alonzo New Beginnings Scholarship is available.  See Mrs. Amber for a link.  Applications will be accepted until April 29, 2020.  This scholarship is based on future career goals not necessarily GPA.  It is a minimum of $1000 and will be given to a Piggott High School student!!!

Senior Girls:  The Hannah Blakenship Memorial Scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  You must have at least a 3.0 GPA,  provide proof of SAE through FFA (hands on experience) and submit an essay.  Deadline is April 15, 2020.

SENIORS: The Gaylon Lawrence Memorial Scholarship This is a 4-year renewable scholarship of $1000 per semester given to a student Who exhibits excellence in academics, leadership, and character.   Renewable with a G.P.A. requirement of 2.5 for freshman year and 3.0 thereafter. Please attach a picture.  Deadline for application is April 16,2020. See Mrs. Conley or Mrs. Amber for an application.

Black River Technical College has their Hard Tech Preview Day set for Thursday, March 19th on the Pocahontas campus.  This preview day is open to juniors and seniors. Students may register at the link below.  The link is also accessible on the Admissions page of our website.  

Senior and Junior High cheer tryouts will be Friday, March 20. Tryout clinic will be after school March 16-19. Sign up sheets are in the office.

**If you have signed up to try out for senior high cheerleading please stop by Ms. Jenna's room today before the end of the day. Girls wanting to try out for JUNIOR HIGH cheerleading need to meet on the stage during activity period TODAY! 

Juniors and Seniors:  If you plan to take a date to Prom that is NOT a Junior or Senior at PHS, there will be a sheet to sign up your date with address this week in the office.

Teachers:  Success Card drawing will be before Spring Break!  Please let you students know how they can use them or they can turn them in for the drawings.

eSports will meet after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Computer Lab.

It is time to register for the following concurrent classes for fall 2020:You must have qualifying ACT or ACT Aspire scores. If you missed the meeting on Monday and are interested, see Mrs. Amber as soon as possible. The 2nd Annual Spend a Day with a Judge contest is open for all Arkansas high school students.To enter, the students will either write an essay or draw a courtroom drawing (at the mock trial competition).  Entry forms for BOTH will be sent to spendadaywithajudge@gmail.com. BRTC MASH summer program: This is a 2 week camp for 10th and 11th graders interested in health careers.  The camp dates are June 8 -18 and camps are offered at two locations - Jonesboro and Pocahontas.  See Mrs. Amber for an application.  Deadline is April 3. 

LOST AND FOUND: There are several items that have been turned in to the office. There are also boxes under the bleachers in the New Gym and on the stage in the Middle Gym for anything left in that gym or the locker rooms.  If you are missing a jacket or other item, please check in the office ASAP.

MICROWAVES IN THE CAFETERIA - Students please wipe out the microwaves in the cafeteria after using.  This is not the cafeteria workers responsibility.  If you use the microwaves, please help us to be able to keep them by doing your part. Thank you.

Seniors:  The Farm Bureau scholarship application is available in Mrs. Amber's office.  You must have a 2.5 GPA, be a child or grandchild of an active Clay County Farm Bureau member, and it is preferred that you are seeking a degree in agriculture or the medical field - but not a requirement.  Deadline April 15, 2020.

Seniors:  The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry has a scholarship application available in Mrs. Amber's office.  You  must have a 3.0 GPA to apply.  Deadline is April 1, 2020.

Senior Girls:  The Alpha Delta Kappa organization for female educators is giving a scholarship of $750 to a high school female who is planning to attend college to receive a degree in education with the desire of becoming a teacher.  All applications need to be received no later than March 31, 2019 See Mrs. Amber or Mrs. Conley for applications. 

Seniors:  Mrs. Amber has scholarship applications for the Arkansas Academy of Hair Design.  The deadline is March 30, 2020.  They have schools located in Paragould  and Jonesboro.  Cosmetology is offered at both campuses.  Esthetics and Nail Tech programs are offered at the Jonesboro campus.

Seniors:  The 2020-2021 ASPMA Scholarship Application is available now. All applications must be postmarked on or before April 1st, 2020.  Any graduating high school senior planning to attend a College/University, Vocational-Technical, or Trade School is eligible to apply. See Mrs. Amber or Mrs. Conley for an application or link. 

Seniors: --- see Mrs. Amber for a link to the application---The Arkansas Association of Career and Technical Education Administrators (AACTEA) is offering two AACTEA Scholarships to high school seniors to supplement education costs beginning their freshman year.   The scholarship awards are $500.00 each for the first academic year, and will be awarded to full-time or part-time students who enroll in an Arkansas college or university, including junior colleges, community colleges, and vocational or technical colleges.--------Eligibility requirements include: Concentrator or Completer status on at least one Program of Study,  Having a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale, Exhibiting a good citizenship record with no suspensions or expulsions, Attempted or achieved an industry certification (ex CRC, OSHA, MTA), Planning to major in a demand occupation (listed on Discover Arkansas)

Seniors:  If you are a child, grandchild, or great grandchild of an American Legionnaire.  Stepchildren of living Legionnaires may apply if their parent is currently married to the Legion member.  Children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of deceased Legionnaires are also eligible.  See Mrs. Amber for an application.  Application and documents must be received by March 13, 2020.
